Haimen Codion secured an impressive 3-1 away win over Chengdu Rongcheng B in the Chinese Football League 2 on 18 October 2026, punishing the hosts with a clinical second-half display.

Match overview

Chengdu Rongcheng B made a bright start and took the lead in the 17th minute when Zhang Wei finished neatly after a quick exchange on the edge of the box. The young hosts looked comfortable for much of the first half, but Haimen Codion equalised against the run of play just before the interval when Li Haoran capitalised on a defensive mix-up and slotted into an empty net.

The second half was a different story. Haimen came out with renewed intensity, pressed higher and took the lead in the 58th minute through Chen Long's deflected effort. Li Haoran added his second of the night with a composed finish on the break, sealing a deserved victory for the visitors.

Key moments

• 17' — Chengdu lead: Zhang Wei finishes a slick move with a low shot into the bottom corner.
• 44' — Haimen equalise: Li Haoran pounces on a loose back-pass and rounds the goalkeeper.
• 58' — Haimen take the lead: Chen Long's shot from the edge of the box takes a deflection and loops in.
• 72' — Li Haoran doubles his tally: A fast counter-attack ends with a calm finish past the advancing goalkeeper.

Tactical story

Haimen Codion's success was built on their counter-attacking shape. They sat deep in the first half, absorbed pressure and then exploited the space behind Chengdu's full-backs after the break. Chengdu Rongcheng B, a young side still developing, struggled to cope with Haimen's physicality in midfield and were repeatedly caught out by quick transitions. The hosts also lacked a response after falling behind, with their possession becoming increasingly sideways.

Standout performers

Li Haoran was the match-winner with two well-taken goals, while Chen Long's energy in midfield drove Haimen forward. For Chengdu Rongcheng B, Zhang Wei was a bright spark in attack, but the young defence will need to learn from the manner in which they conceded the second and third goals.

Season impact

Haimen Codion climb the Chinese Football League 2 table with a valuable away victory that underlines their promotion credentials. Chengdu Rongcheng B remain focused on development, but this defeat highlights the gap between their promising attacking play and their defensive consistency.
