Jiangxi Lushan U20 0-1 Qingdao West Coast U20 — A single second-half goal from Zhou Haoyu was enough to give Qingdao West Coast U20 a hard-fought 1-0 away win over Jiangxi Lushan U20 in the Chinese Football Association U-21 League on 25 September 2026.

In a match of fine margins, the visitors defended their lead with real discipline through the closing stages to claim all three points, leaving the home side to reflect on a performance full of effort but short on a finishing touch.

Match Overview

The opening hour was a tight, tactical contest. Jiangxi Lushan U20 enjoyed slightly more of the ball and probed down both flanks, but Qingdao West Coast U20 kept their shape well, defended their box in numbers, and looked dangerous whenever they broke forward at speed.

With clear chances at a premium, the game turned on one moment of quality just past the hour mark. From there, West Coast dropped deeper, absorbed pressure, and saw out the remaining half-hour with a level of concentration that underlined their growing maturity as a unit.

Key Moments

• 22nd minute: Jiangxi Lushan's best opening of the first half, a low drive from distance that is pushed around the post.
• 45th minute: A goalmouth scramble ends with a West Coast clearance off the line.
• 67th minute: Zhou Haoyu breaks the deadlock, arriving at the back post to convert a well-delivered cross.
• 74th minute: Lushan force a fine save from a free kick as they push for an immediate response.
• 90th minute: West Coast clear a final corner and see out the win.

Tactical Story

Jiangxi Lushan U20 set up in a 4-2-3-1 and tried to build patiently through midfield, but Qingdao West Coast U20's compact 4-4-2 without the ball made central progress difficult. The visitors were happy to concede possession in harmless areas and then spring forward quickly once they won it back.

That approach paid off after the break. As Lushan pushed more players forward in search of a goal, West Coast found extra space in wide areas, and it was from exactly that kind of situation that the winner arrived. The final twenty minutes became a test of nerve, with Lushan delivering a stream of crosses and set pieces, but the away side's centre-backs stood tall and their goalkeeper handled everything thrown at him.

Standout Performers

Zhou Haoyu will take the headlines for the decisive goal, a fitting reward for a performance full of intelligent running. Qingdao West Coast's goalkeeper was arguably the unsung hero, producing two important saves in the final quarter of the match, while the defensive partnership at the heart of the back four dealt with everything in the air.

For Jiangxi Lushan U20, the central midfield duo worked tirelessly to keep the team moving forward, and their left winger was a constant threat in one-on-one situations. What they lacked was a finishing touch at the crucial moment.

What It Means for the Table

The narrow win gives Qingdao West Coast U20 a valuable three points on the road and further evidence that they can grind out results when the game is tight — a trait that separates genuine contenders from mid-table sides in youth football. Jiangxi Lushan U20 remain competitive but will feel they deserved more from a match they largely controlled in terms of territory.
