Quintero Unido 2-1 Lautaro de Buin gave the Chilean Tercera another absorbing contest, with the home side claiming a determined victory built on second-half pressure and a well-taken winning goal from Matías Olivares. It was a result that rewarded patience, as Quintero Unido turned a half-time deficit into three points in front of their own supporters.

Match Overview

Lautaro de Buin started the brighter of the two teams, pressing aggressively and disrupting Quintero Unido's attempts to play out from the back. Their reward came ten minutes into the second half when Diego Herrera found space at the edge of the area and finished cleanly to put the visitors ahead.

The response was everything Quintero Unido's coaching staff could have wanted. Far from retreating, the hosts pushed their full-backs higher, increased the speed of their passing and equalised within ten minutes through Luis Carvajal, who reacted quickest to a loose ball in the box.

Key Moments

• 55' – Quintero Unido 0-1: Diego Herrera opens the scoring for Lautaro de Buin with a composed finish.
• 64' – 1-1: Luis Carvajal equalises, reacting first to a rebound inside the penalty area.
• 79' – 2-1: Matías Olivares scores the winner with a low strike after a patient build-up.
• 90+3': Quintero Unido clear a late corner to secure the points.

Tactical Story

The match illustrated two contrasting approaches. Lautaro de Buin favoured a direct, high-tempo style, looking to win the ball high and attack quickly. Quintero Unido, by contrast, built more patiently, using their midfield to circulate possession and draw the opposition out of shape.

Once Quintero took the lead, the tactical picture flipped entirely. Lautaro were forced to commit more players forward, and the hosts managed the closing stages intelligently, slowing the game down and defending their box with discipline as the visitors searched for an equaliser.

Standout Players

Matías Olivares was the match-winner and Quintero Unido's most dangerous outlet, repeatedly finding space between the lines. Luis Carvajal deserved his goal for a tireless performance, while the home defence recovered well after a shaky opening period. For Lautaro de Buin, Diego Herrera was the most threatening player on the pitch and took his goal expertly.

Tercera Standings Impact

The victory strengthens Quintero Unido's position in the Chilean Tercera and continues their strong home record, an increasingly important asset in a division where travel and inconsistency punish visiting sides. Lautaro de Buin, meanwhile, are left to reflect on a performance that contained plenty of promise but a familiar lack of ruthlessness in the final third.

With the campaign progressing, three points like these — earned from behind — can be the difference between a comfortable finish and a nervous one.
