Imperial Unido Snatch 1-0 Win at Naval de Talcahuano in Chilean Tercera

Imperial Unido claimed a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Naval de Talcahuano in the Chilean Tercera on October 5, 2026. A single goal was enough to decide a match that was fiercely contested from start to finish, with the visitors showing resilience to hold on for all three points.

Match Overview

Naval de Talcahuano, playing at home, started the brighter of the two sides, dominating possession and creating several half-chances. Their attacking midfielder forced a fine save from the Imperial goalkeeper in the 12th minute, and a header from a corner went narrowly over the bar. Imperial Unido, however, grew into the game and began to find space on the counter-attack.

The decisive moment came in the 34th minute. A quick break down the left flank resulted in a cross into the box, and Diego Silva controlled the ball before firing a low shot into the far corner. Naval pushed for an equalizer before half-time, but Imperial's defense stood strong.

Key Moments

Naval de Talcahuano had a golden opportunity to level in the 61st minute when a penalty was awarded for a handball. However, the Imperial goalkeeper guessed correctly and saved the spot-kick, diving to his left. That save proved pivotal, as Naval continued to press but could not find a way through. In the 89th minute, a last-ditch tackle from Imperial's center-back denied a clear goal-scoring chance, sealing the win.

Tactical Story

Naval de Talcahuano set up in a 4-3-3, looking to use width to stretch Imperial's defense. They dominated the ball but lacked a cutting edge in the final third. Imperial Unido lined up in a 4-2-3-1 that became a 4-5-1 when defending, with their wingers dropping deep to help the full-backs. This defensive discipline frustrated Naval, and Imperial's quick transitions caused problems all afternoon. The away side's ability to soak up pressure and hit on the break was the difference.

Standout Players

• Diego Silva (Imperial Unido): Scored the winning goal with a clinical finish.
