CD Constitucion Unido claimed all three points with a 4-2 victory over Rodelindo Roman in the Chilean Tercera, in a match that blended attacking quality with a few nervous defensive moments. The coastal side ultimately had too much in the final third for a Rodelindo Román team that refused to go quietly but was undone by lapses at the back.

Match overview

Playing at home in Constitución, the Maule region club started with the wind at their backs and quickly established territorial control. Their movement off the ball caused problems from the outset, and the opening goal came from a well-constructed move that pulled the visiting defence apart.

Rodelindo Román — a club with a growing following from the Quinta Normal district of Santiago — responded with spirit and pulled a goal back to make the contest interesting again. But every time the visitors built momentum, Constitucion Unido found another gear, and the scoreline ultimately reflected the hosts' superior cutting edge.

Key moments

• Bright opening: Constitucion Unido took an early lead after sustained possession in the opposition half.
• Response: Rodelindo Román found an equaliser to briefly turn the momentum.
• Double blow: The hosts scored twice around the half-time interval to establish a commanding cushion.
• Composure under pressure: A second Rodelindo goal set up a tense closing period, but the home defence held firm.
• Sealed late: A fourth goal in the final stretch confirmed the win and capped a strong attacking display.

Tactical story

Constitucion Unido's greatest strength was their fluidity in the attacking third. Rather than relying on one focal point, their forwards rotated constantly, dragging defenders out of position and creating space for late-arriving midfielders. Two of their four goals came from exactly that kind of movement, with the midfield runners arriving unmarked at the edge of the area.

Rodelindo Román pressed energetically and were rewarded with two goals, but their eagerness to push forward left them exposed on the counter. Their back line struggled with the pace of the home side's transitions, and the gaps that appeared after their equaliser proved decisive. It was an encouraging attacking display undermined by defensive frailty.

Standout performers

The hosts' attacking midfielders were the heartbeat of the performance, combining creativity with relentless running. The goalkeeper also came up with a crucial save just after the hour mark, preserving the lead at a moment when Rodelindo Román were pushing hardest for an equaliser. For the visitors, their two goalscorers showed genuine quality, and their midfield captain drove the team forward throughout.

Season impact

This is the sort of home result that shapes a Tercera campaign. Constitucion Unido keep pace with the leading pack, add to their goal difference, and reinforce their reputation as one of the more watchable attacking sides in the division. The defensive concessions, however, will give the coaching staff something to work on.

Rodelindo Román leave with no points but with evidence that they can score against strong opposition. Turning spirited attacking performances into results will be the priority as the season continues, particularly away from home, where their record has been inconsistent.
