Linares Unido 5-4 CD Trasandino de Los Andes delivered one of the most extraordinary scorelines of the Chilean Segunda División season, a nine-goal classic in which the hosts survived a furious late comeback to claim all three points. Twice Linares looked to have the game under control, and twice Trasandino clawed their way back — before a stoppage-time winner finally settled a contest that defied every defensive expectation.

Match Overview

Few fixtures in the Segunda División promise goals as reliably as a meeting between two sides committed to attacking football, and this one surpassed even the most optimistic predictions. Linares Unido started at a furious tempo, pressing Trasandino's build-up and forcing turnovers in dangerous areas, while the visitors responded with direct, vertical football that repeatedly stretched the home defence.

By half-time the scoreboard already read 2-2, and the sense inside the ground was that the second half would be about which side blinked first. Neither did — until the very end.

Tactical Story

Both managers set up with a back four and both were punished for the space left in behind. Linares Unido's midfield double pivot struggled to screen the defence whenever Trasandino switched play quickly, and the visitors' willingness to shoot from range kept the home goalkeeper busy throughout.

What ultimately separated the teams was Linares' aggression in the final third. Their full-backs pushed high, creating overloads on both flanks, and the resulting supply line of crosses proved decisive. Trasandino's equaliser at 4-4 came from precisely the kind of set-piece routine that Linares had defended poorly all evening, but the hosts' response — immediate, direct and fearless — was the mark of a team growing in confidence.

Standout Players

Matías Fuentes was outstanding, his two goals complemented by relentless pressing and intelligent link play. Sebastián Muñoz will long remember the night he scored the winner, while Cristián Rojas controlled the tempo from midfield. For Trasandino, Diego Sáez was the game's most persistent threat and Felipe Aravena produced the moment of the match with his late header.

Season Impact

Three points in a game of this nature can shape a campaign. Linares Unido move forward with renewed belief and a healthy goal difference, while Trasandino de Los Andes leave with nothing despite scoring four times away from home — a frustration that will linger, but also proof that their attacking play is close to delivering consistent results in the Segunda División table.
