Internacional de Bogotá 1-1 Deportiva Once Caldas — Internacional de Bogotá and Deportiva Once Caldas shared the points in a tense, evenly matched Categoría Primera A encounter that finished level in the capital. Both goals came from sustained spells of pressure, and both managers will leave feeling they could have taken more from a game that swung back and forth across the ninety minutes.

An even contest from the first whistle

The match began at a cautious tempo, with both sides wary of the other's attacking quality. Once Caldas, traditionally one of the most organised sides in Colombian football, settled into a compact 4-4-2 shape and looked to spring quick counter-attacks through their wide players. Internacional de Bogotá, playing in front of their home support, tried to impose themselves through patient circulation and higher full-backs.

Chances were scarce in the opening half hour, but the pattern was absorbing: Internacional probing, Once Caldas blocking, and the game turning into a battle for the second ball in midfield.

Key moments

• International de Bogotá take the lead: A well-worked move down the left ended with a cut-back into the penalty area, converted with a first-time finish that beat the goalkeeper low to his right.
• Once Caldas level: After the break, the visitors pushed their wing-backs higher and got their reward when a cross from the right was met with a firm header at the back post.
• Late drama: Both teams had chances to win it in the closing twenty minutes — Internacional struck the woodwork from distance, while Once Caldas forced a sharp save from a set piece in stoppage time.

Tactical story: patience against pressure

The game was defined by the contrast in approach. Internacional de Bogotá wanted to build patiently, drawing Once Caldas out of their block before switching play to the far side. It worked well in the first half, when the home side found space between the lines and created several half-chances.

Once Caldas adjusted after the interval, pressing higher and forcing Internacional into longer, less accurate passes. That change shifted the momentum and produced the equaliser. Crucially, the visitors also tightened their marking on Internacional's deep-lying playmaker, cutting off the supply line that had made the hosts look dangerous early on.

Standout performers

Internacional de Bogotá's most influential figure was their attacking midfielder, who drifted into pockets of space all evening and linked midfield to attack with real intelligence. Their centre-back pairing also deserves credit for coping with Once Caldas' direct second-half approach, winning several important aerial duels.

For Once Caldas, the standout was the wide midfielder who drove the second-half comeback, repeatedly beating his marker and delivering dangerous crosses. Their goalkeeper also produced a crucial late save to preserve the draw.

What it means for the standings

A point apiece does little to separate these two in the Categoría Primera A table, and both will view it as a missed opportunity in a congested league where every dropped point matters. Internacional de Bogotá remain difficult to beat at home, but converting draws into wins is the difference between mid-table comfort and a genuine push for the top eight.

Once Caldas, meanwhile, continue to show the resilience that has long been their trademark. Coming from behind away from home is no small achievement, and their second-half display will give the coaching staff plenty to build on in the coming weeks.

Looking ahead

Both clubs now turn their attention to the next round of fixtures, with Internacional de Bogotá facing another home test and Once Caldas returning to their own stadium, where their record has historically been strong. On this evidence, neither side is far from putting together the run of form needed to climb the standings.
