Kirivong Sok Sen Chey 2-3 Visakha FC: Late Winner Settles Five-Goal Thriller

Visakha FC edged Kirivong Sok Sen Chey 3-2 in a pulsating Cambodian Premier League encounter on 17 October 2026, with a late goal deciding a match that swung repeatedly between the two sides. Visakha appeared to be in control after racing into an early lead, but Kirivong fought back bravely before the visitors found the decisive moment in the closing stages.

The result is a significant one for Visakha’s ambitions in the upper half of the table, while Kirivong will take encouragement from their second-half response despite the disappointment of conceding late. The match was a reminder of how quickly momentum can shift in the Cambodian Premier League when teams commit numbers forward.

Match Overview

Visakha started brightly and were rewarded for their early pressure with the opening goal. Their midfield pressed aggressively and forced Kirivong into mistakes, and a second goal followed as the visitors capitalised on another turnover. At that point, the game looked to be slipping away from the hosts.

Kirivong, however, found a route back into the contest before half-time and carried that momentum into the second period. An equaliser midway through the second half lifted the home crowd and set up a tense finish. Visakha responded by pushing more bodies forward, and their persistence paid off when a late attack produced the winning goal.

Key Moments

• 9th minute: Visakha took the lead after a quick passing move opened space in the Kirivong penalty area.
• 22nd minute: The visitors doubled their advantage, punishing a loose pass with a clinical finish.
• 41st minute: Kirivong pulled one back with a well-placed effort from the edge of the box.
• 67th minute: The hosts equalised after a sustained spell of pressure and a scramble in the six-yard box.
• 88th minute: Visakha scored the winner, finishing a late counter-attack with a low strike.

Tactical Story

Visakha’s game plan relied on controlling midfield and pressing high enough to keep Kirivong pinned back. In the first half, that strategy worked well, with the visitors winning second balls and moving the ball quickly into the final third. Their two-goal cushion gave them a platform, but they allowed Kirivong back into the match by dropping too deep before the interval.

Kirivong’s response was built on direct running and a willingness to attack down the flanks. Once they reduced the deficit, the hosts looked the more energetic side for long periods of the second half. In the end, though, Visakha’s quality in transition proved decisive, with the winning goal coming from exactly the kind of quick break that had troubled Kirivong all evening.

Standout Performers

Visakha’s central midfielder was instrumental in setting the tempo and driving the visitors forward, particularly in the first half. The Kirivong striker, meanwhile, led the comeback with a determined performance, holding the ball up and bringing teammates into play. Both goalkeepers were tested regularly, and the match could easily have produced more than five goals.

Season Impact

The win strengthens Visakha FC’s position in the Cambodian Premier League table and adds to their reputation as one of the competition’s more dangerous attacking sides. For Kirivong Sok Sen Chey, the defeat leaves them with work to do, but the character shown in fighting back from two goals down will be a source of encouragement. The challenge now is to turn that resilience into points in the coming fixtures.
