Kenya Women produced an emphatic statement in their CAF Women's Olympic qualification campaign on 8 October 2026, overwhelming Seychelles Women 11-0 in a one-sided encounter that showcased the gulf in experience between the two sides. It was a ruthless, professional performance from the Harambee Starlets, who never allowed their opponents to settle at any point of the match.

Match Overview

Kenya arrived as firm favourites and played like it. From the first minute, they pressed aggressively, moved the ball at pace and created chances at will. Seychelles, defending deep for much of the contest, found themselves under constant pressure and were unable to relieve it with meaningful possession of their own.

By the interval, the tie was effectively decided. The second half followed a similar pattern, with Kenya rotating players while maintaining their intensity and adding further goals to complete a comprehensive scoreline.

Key Moments

• Fast start: Kenya opened the scoring inside the early exchanges, settling any nerves and immediately establishing control of the game.
• Rapid accumulation: Further goals followed in quick succession as Kenya's forward line found space between the lines and behind the Seychelles defence.
• Half-time lead: Kenya went into the break with a substantial advantage, having completely dominated possession and territory.
• Second-half continuation: Rather than easing off, the visitors maintained their tempo and added more goals as Seychelles legs tired.
• Defensive record: Kenya's goalkeeper and back line kept a clean sheet, a detail that matters in qualification campaigns where goal difference can decide progression.

Tactical Story

Kenya's approach was built on width and speed. Wide players hugged the touchlines to stretch the Seychelles defensive block, while the midfield dictated the tempo and repeatedly released runners into space. The result was wave after wave of attack, with Seychelles rarely able to get more than a few passes together before losing the ball.

For Seychelles, the night was a difficult learning experience against a full-time, higher-ranked opponent. Their goalkeeper was kept extremely busy and, despite the scoreline, made a number of saves that prevented the margin from growing even further.

Standout Performers

Kenya's attacking unit shared the scoring burden impressively, with multiple players getting on the scoresheet — a sign of the team's depth and the variety of their attacking threats. The midfield creator was central to almost everything, linking play and delivering dangerous balls into the box.

The defensive line also deserves recognition for maintaining concentration and discipline throughout, ensuring the clean sheet was preserved even as the goals flowed at the other end.

What It Means for Qualification

A double-figure victory gives Kenya Women an enormous advantage in the CAF Women's Olympic qualification tie, effectively settling the contest ahead of the return leg. Goal difference and away goals can be decisive in continental qualifying, and a result of this magnitude puts the Harambee Starlets firmly in control of their own destiny.

For Seychelles Women, the focus will now be on regrouping and using the experience to develop a young squad that will face more fixtures in the years ahead. For Kenya, the challenge is to maintain this level of ruthlessness as the standard of opposition rises in the next round.
