Full-time score: Sidama Bunna 0-2 Al-Hilal Omdurman

Al-Hilal Omdurman produced a mature and efficient away performance to defeat Sidama Bunna 2-0 in the CAF Champions League, taking a strong advantage from a match in which their defensive discipline and clinical finishing made the difference. The Sudanese giants absorbed pressure, struck at key moments, and kept a clean sheet to put themselves in a commanding position.

Match overview

Sidama Bunna started with energy and tried to impose themselves on the contest, but they found it difficult to break down Al-Hilal’s compact defensive block. The visitors were content to let Sidama have possession in less dangerous areas, waiting for opportunities to counter. That approach paid off midway through the first half when a patient move ended with a precise finish into the bottom corner.

The second goal arrived in the closing stages when Al-Hilal broke quickly after a Sidama attack broke down, finishing a counter-attack with composure. Sidama pushed forward in the final minutes, but Al-Hilal’s defence remained organised and limited clear chances.

Key moments

• Al-Hilal opened the scoring in the 34th minute with a low finish after a well-worked move.
• Sidama Bunna’s best chance came from a header that was saved by the Al-Hilal goalkeeper.
• Al-Hilal doubled their lead in the 78th minute with a fast counter-attack.
• Sidama pressed late, but Al-Hilal’s back line dealt with every cross and set piece.

Tactical story

Al-Hilal Omdurman’s game plan was built on defensive solidity and quick transitions. Their midfield stayed compact, denying Sidama Bunna space between the lines, and their forwards were ruthless when chances arrived. Sidama enjoyed more possession but struggled to create clear openings against a well-drilled opponent.

The visitors also managed the game intelligently after taking the lead, slowing the tempo and drawing fouls to disrupt Sidama’s rhythm. Their experience in continental competition was evident in the way they protected the two-goal cushion.

Standout performers

Al-Hilal’s goalkeeper was reliable when called upon, while the centre-back pairing handled Sidama’s aerial threat with authority. The midfielder who drove the counter-attacks was also influential, linking defence to attack with sharp passes. For Sidama Bunna, the goalkeeper made several saves to keep the tie alive, and the wide players showed flashes of quality, but the team lacked a decisive final ball.

What the result means

The 2-0 away win gives Al-Hilal Omdurman a significant advantage in the CAF Champions League tie and a clean sheet to protect in the return fixture. Sidama Bunna will need a much sharper attacking display and an early goal to turn the tie around. For Al-Hilal, the focus will be on maintaining the same discipline and defensive concentration.
