PWD de Bamenda and Dynamo de Douala played out a hard-fought 1-1 draw in Cameroon Elite One, with both sides finding the net in a match that swung on fine margins. The point keeps PWD’s unbeaten home record intact, while Dynamo will feel they did enough to take more than a single point back to Douala.

Match overview

PWD de Bamenda began brightly in front of their home supporters, pressing high and forcing Dynamo into several early turnovers. The hosts were rewarded for their intensity when they took the lead midway through the first half. Dynamo responded well, gradually settling into the game and creating problems with their pace on the break. The equaliser arrived after the interval, and both teams had chances to win it in a lively final 20 minutes.

Key moments

• 22nd minute: PWD opened the scoring through Alain Ndifor, who reacted quickest to a loose ball inside the penalty area and slotted home.
• 41st minute: Dynamo appealed for a penalty after a challenge in the box, but the referee waved play on.
• 64th minute: Dynamo equalised when Christian Manga finished off a sweeping counter-attack with a low strike across the goalkeeper.
• 84th minute: PWD’s Samuel Tabi forced a diving save from the Dynamo goalkeeper with a well-struck free kick.

Tactical story

PWD de Bamenda used a 4-3-3 system built around quick wing play and aggressive pressing. Their midfield trio won plenty of second balls, but Dynamo’s compact 4-4-2 made it difficult for PWD to find clean entries into the final third. Dynamo were happy to concede possession in harmless areas and attack through transitions, and that approach paid off with the equaliser. In the closing stages, both coaches made attacking changes, but neither side could find a winning goal.

Standout players

Alain Ndifor was PWD’s most dangerous attacker and took his goal well. Samuel Tabi controlled the tempo in midfield and came close with a late set piece. For Dynamo, Christian Manga was a constant threat on the counter and deserved his goal, while centre-back Jean-Paul Eto’o made several important clearances under pressure.

What it means

The draw leaves both teams with mixed emotions. PWD de Bamenda will be pleased to avoid defeat at home but frustrated at failing to convert their first-half superiority into three points. Dynamo de Douala showed resilience and tactical discipline, qualities that will serve them well in a tightly contested Elite One campaign. With the standings still compressed, every point matters, and both sides will view this result as one to build on rather than a definitive statement.
