FC Gazelle and Unisport Bafang Battle to Frustrating 0-0 Stalemate
FC Gazelle were unable to find a way past a stubborn Unisport Bafang defence at the Stade Omnisports de Garoua on 31 May 2026, as the match ended 0-0 in the Cameroon Elite One. Both goalkeepers were rarely tested but the action was frantic in midfield.
Gazelle, playing in front of their home fans, started brightly. Striker Jean-Pierre Effa had two early headers, one saved and one off target. Unisport Bafang, meanwhile, relied on set-pieces and almost scored when defender Samuel Tchouamo's header from a corner rattled the crossbar.
Tactical Battle
The game became increasingly physical in the second half. Referee Charles Atangana issued four yellow cards as frustrations boiled over. Gazelle introduced fresh legs in attack, but Unisport's deep-lying midfield duo of Roger Fongang and Christian Wandji effectively screened their backline.
- Shots: Gazelle 9 (2 on target) – Unisport 6 (1 on target)
- Corners: Gazelle 7 – Unisport 3
- Fouls: Gazelle 14 – Unisport 11
The point keeps FC Gazelle in the top half of the Elite One standings, while Unisport Bafang climb one place after securing a valuable away draw.
