Canon Yaounde defended in a compact mid-block and attacked with purpose when they won the ball. The winning goal was a perfect example of Canon’s counter-attacking approach.

What it means for the table

Canon Yaounde’s victory tightens the race at the top of the Cameroon Elite One standings and gives them valuable momentum in the head-to-head battle with one of their biggest rivals. Coton Sport remain among the leading sides but will know that home defeats against direct competitors can prove costly over the course of a season. The result is a reminder that in this fixture, form and history rarely matter as much as moments of quality.
