Arda advanced in the Bulgarian Cup with a 2-1 victory over Spartak Plovdiv on 18 October 2026, coming from behind to win a competitive knockout tie. Spartak Plovdiv’s early goal gave the home support hope, but Arda’s experience and improved second-half control turned the match around.

Match overview

Cup football often rewards teams who manage key moments better, and that was the story here. Spartak Plovdiv started with energy and took the game to their opponents, but Arda stayed composed and gradually imposed themselves. The visitors’ equaliser before half-time changed the momentum, and their second-half winner was a reward for a more disciplined display after the break.

Key moments

• 22nd minute: Spartak Plovdiv opened the scoring with a well-placed header from a cross, sending the home crowd into celebration.
• 44th minute: Arda equalised just before the interval. A neat exchange on the edge of the box created space for a low finish into the corner.
• 68th minute: Arda took the lead. A quick break down the left ended with a cut-back that was converted from close range.
• 84th minute: Spartak Plovdiv pushed players forward in search of an equaliser, but Arda’s defence dealt with the late deliveries comfortably.

Tactical story and standout players

Spartak Plovdiv’s high-energy start unsettled Arda, but the visitors adjusted their shape and began to win more second balls in midfield. Arda’s wide players were particularly influential, stretching the play and creating space for the central attackers. Spartak’s goalkeeper made two important saves to keep the tie alive, while Arda’s captain led by example in the middle of the park.

Season impact

The result sends Arda into the next round of the Bulgarian Cup, where they will hope to build on this comeback performance. For Spartak Plovdiv, the cup exit is a disappointment, but their first-half display offered encouragement for the league campaign ahead. Knockout football can be cruel, and this was a clear example of a tie decided by small margins.
