Diegem Sport and Rupel Boom played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in BSA D on 25 October 2026, with the home side equalising late after twice falling behind. The point keeps both teams in the thick of the league picture, but neither will feel entirely satisfied after a match that swung from end to end.

Match overview

Rupel Boom made the brighter start and took the lead inside the opening twenty minutes. A quick move down the left created space for a low cross, and the visiting forward converted from close range. Diegem Sport responded well, controlling possession and probing for an equaliser. Their patience was rewarded before half-time when a smart turn in the box created room for a low finish into the far corner.

The second half followed a similar pattern. Rupel Boom regained the lead from a free-kick, with the delivery curling beyond the goalkeeper’s reach. Diegem pushed more players forward in response, and the game became stretched. The home side hit the post and forced a fine save before finally equalising in the closing stages, capitalising on a defensive clearance that fell kindly at the edge of the area.

Key moments

• 16th minute: Rupel Boom opened the scoring with a close-range finish after a dangerous low cross from the left.
• 39th minute: Diegem Sport equalised with a composed finish following a clever turn inside the penalty area.
• 61st minute: Rupel Boom restored their lead with a curling free-kick that beat the goalkeeper.
• 70th minute: Diegem hit the post as the home side increased the pressure.
• 86th minute: Diegem’s late equaliser arrived when a loose ball was drilled home from the edge of the box.

Tactical story and standout performers

Diegem Sport’s wide players were their most dangerous outlet, repeatedly isolating the Rupel full-backs and delivering early crosses. The home side’s substitutions also made a difference, adding fresh legs in midfield and allowing them to sustain pressure in the final twenty minutes. Rupel Boom, meanwhile, looked dangerous on the break and were well served by their captain, who dictated the tempo from central midfield and delivered the free-kick that led to the second goal.

Both defences had difficult moments. Diegem were vulnerable to quick transitions, particularly when their full-backs pushed forward, while Rupel struggled to deal with crosses into their own box. The draw was probably the right result: Diegem had more possession, but Rupel carried a consistent counter-attacking threat and twice led the match.

BSA D table impact

A point apiece keeps both clubs moving in the BSA D standings, though each will look back at moments that could have brought more. Diegem Sport showed character to come from behind twice, which is a useful quality in a long season. Rupel Boom, however, will be frustrated at letting a lead slip in the final stages. The head-to-head remains tight, and the return fixture is already shaping up as an important date.

Diegem Sport will take confidence from their late response, while Rupel Boom will focus on tightening up defensively. In a division where fine margins decide promotion and relegation battles, this was a point that may look better at the end of the season than it does right now.
