Match Overview

Vasco Da Gama Women started brightly, pressing high and forcing Itabirito into early mistakes. Their pressure paid off when they opened the scoring, finishing off a move that started with a quick regain in midfield. For a while, Vasco looked in control, moving the ball confidently and creating half-chances.

Itabirito Women, however, did not panic. They gradually settled into the game, tightened up defensively, and began to find space on the counter. The equaliser arrived before half-time, and the visitors carried that momentum into the second period, scoring the winner after a sustained spell of pressure.

Key Moments

• Vasco opener: A sharp turn and shot from the edge of the box gave the home side an early lead.
• Itabirito equaliser: A well-timed run behind the defence was finished calmly past the goalkeeper.
• Winning goal: Itabirito capitalised on a defensive mistake, with a low finish into the bottom corner.
• Late Vasco pressure: The home side pushed numbers forward in the final minutes, but Itabirito’s defence held firm.

Tactical Story

Vasco Da Gama Women’s early dominance came from their high press and quick passing in wide areas. But as the game wore on, their intensity dropped, and they struggled to break down an increasingly compact Itabirito defence. Their midfield lost control of the tempo, allowing the visitors to dictate periods of the second half.

Itabirito Women made smart adjustments. They dropped their defensive line slightly, invited Vasco forward, and then attacked the space behind. Their two goals came from direct, efficient play — exactly the kind of away performance that wins tight matches in the Brazil W L2.

Standout Players

Itabirito’s forwards were decisive, with the equaliser and winner both coming from sharp movement and composed finishing. The goalkeeper also made a crucial save late on to deny Vasco an equaliser. In midfield, Itabirito’s captain controlled the tempo and helped her team stay calm after conceding early.

For Vasco Da Gama Women, the early goalscorer was their brightest spark, and the goalkeeper kept them in the game with several saves. But the team as a whole could not maintain the intensity that had given them such a strong start.
