Tactical story

Santa Cruz PE Youth's 4-3-3 shape worked effectively, with the wide forwards pinning back Sao Raimundo-RR Youth's full-backs and creating space for midfield runners. Their pressing traps in central areas repeatedly forced errors, and the speed of their counter-attacks made the hosts look vulnerable whenever they lost the ball in advanced positions. Sao Raimundo-RR Youth improved slightly after the break but lacked the cutting edge to turn possession into clear chances.

Standout performers

Joao Vitor was the headline name with two goals and an assist, constantly finding space between the lines. Matheus Lima's brace underlined his clinical movement in the box, while Santa Cruz PE Youth goalkeeper Lucas made two important first-half saves to preserve the visitors' momentum. For Sao Raimundo-RR Youth, Pedro Henrique deserve credit for a spirited late cameo and a goal that gave the home supporters something to cheer.

What it means

The result strengthens Santa Cruz PE Youth's position in the Brazilian Youth Cup and gives them valuable momentum for the next stage of the competition. For Sao Raimundo-RR Youth, the defeat is a harsh lesson in the cost of turnovers against high-pressing opposition. The hosts will need a more compact defensive structure and better decision-making in possession if they are to bounce back in their next fixture.
