SC Paysandu Para Secure Narrow 1-0 Away Win at Brusque FC in Brazilian Serie C

SC Paysandu Para claimed a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Brusque FC in their Brazilian Serie C clash at Estádio Augusto Bauer on October 12, 2026. A single second-half goal was enough to separate the sides in a match defined by midfield discipline, set-piece quality and Paysandu's ability to protect a slim lead on the road. The result hands Paysandu a valuable three points in the race for promotion, while Brusque are left to rue a night of missed opportunities in front of their own supporters.

Match Overview

Brusque started with intent, pressing high and looking to use the width of the pitch. Paysandu, typically strong away from home, absorbed the early pressure and gradually built control. The first half produced few clear chances, but the tempo was high, with both midfields battling for second balls. Brusque's best moment arrived around the 23rd minute when a low cross from the right was turned toward goal, only for Paysandu's goalkeeper to make a smart reaction save. Paysandu responded with a threatening free-kick that clipped the top of the crossbar.

After the break, Paysandu found the decisive moment. In the 67th minute, a well-worked move down the left ended with a cut-back into the penalty area, and striker Nicolas converted with a first-time finish into the bottom corner. Brusque pushed forward in search of an equalizer, introducing fresh legs in attack, but Paysandu's back line held firm. A late header from a corner was cleared off the line, and the visitors saw out five minutes of stoppage time to secure the win.

Key Moments

• 23' — Brusque's first real chance is kept out by a strong save from the Paysandu goalkeeper.
• 38' — Paysandu go close from a set piece, with the ball striking the woodwork.
• 67' — Nicolas scores the only goal, finishing calmly after a low cross from the left.
• 82' — Brusque have a goal ruled out for offside after a quick attacking move.
• 90+4' — Paysandu clear a dangerous corner to seal the three points.

Tactical Story

Paysandu lined up in a compact 4-2-3-1, using two holding midfielders to shield the back four and spring quick counterattacks. Brusque operated in a 4-3-3, trying to overload the flanks and deliver early crosses. The difference was Paysandu's efficiency in the final third and their organization without the ball. Brusque enjoyed more possession in the second half but struggled to break down a deep, disciplined defensive block. Paysandu's wingers tracked back diligently, and their center-backs won the majority of aerial duels.

Standout Players

Nicolas will take the headlines for the match-winning goal, but Paysandu's goalkeeper was equally important with two crucial saves. The defensive midfielder also controlled the tempo, breaking up play and starting transitions. For Brusque, the left winger was a constant threat, while the central defender showed composure under pressure. The home side's captain drove the team forward in the closing stages, but the final pass was missing.

Table and Season Impact

The win lifts Paysandu into a stronger position in the Brazilian Serie C standings, keeping them firmly in the promotion conversation. For Brusque, the defeat is a setback in their push for a playoff place, though their performance showed enough to suggest they can recover quickly. In a division where away victories are precious, Paysandu's ability to grind out a 1-0 result could prove decisive come the end of the season.
