Metropolitano SC produced a commanding performance in the Brazilian Santa Catarina Cup, defeating CEC Santa Catarina 3-0 on Sunday. A brace from João Pedro and a well-taken goal from Lucas Ferreira gave the home side a convincing victory that underlined their attacking quality in the competition.

Match Overview

Metropolitano SC set the tone from the opening whistle, pressing CEC Santa Catarina high and forcing mistakes in the visitors’ build-up. The breakthrough came in the 12th minute when João Pedro timed his run perfectly to meet a low delivery and guide the ball past the goalkeeper. Metropolitano doubled their advantage in the 38th minute through Lucas Ferreira, whose shot from the edge of the box found the bottom corner after a neat lay-off.

The second half followed a similar pattern. CEC Santa Catarina attempted to push higher in search of a route back into the game, but that only created more space for Metropolitano’s forwards. João Pedro completed his brace in the 67th minute, finishing calmly after being played through on goal. From there, the hosts managed the game intelligently and comfortably protected their clean sheet.

Tactical Story

Metropolitano’s aggressive 4-3-3 caused problems throughout. Their midfield won the majority of second balls, allowing the full-backs to push forward and create overloads in wide areas. CEC Santa Catarina struggled to play through the first line of pressure and were often reduced to speculative long passes. When the visitors did manage to break forward, Metropolitano’s centre-backs dealt comfortably with the danger.

Standout Players

João Pedro was the clear headline performer, showing excellent movement and composure in front of goal. Lucas Ferreira controlled the tempo in midfield and capped his display with an important goal. Metropolitano’s goalkeeper also played a key role with a late save that kept the scoreline clean, while CEC Santa Catarina’s captain worked tirelessly despite the difficult afternoon.

Season Impact

The 3-0 win gives Metropolitano SC a significant boost in the Santa Catarina Cup and puts them in a strong position in the tie. CEC Santa Catarina will need a major response in their next outing, while Metropolitano can take confidence from a complete team performance that combined sharp attacking play with defensive discipline.
