Tactical Story

Campos AA lined up in a 4-4-2 and tried to use direct play to get behind the young CGI defence. It worked early, but as the game wore on, CGI April 7 U20’s superior fitness and quick passing triangles began to tell. The visitors switched to a 4-2-3-1 after half-time, which gave them an extra passing option between the lines and allowed their wide players to isolate Campos’s full-backs. The two second-half goals came from exactly those areas.

Standout Players

Moura was Campos’s brightest performer, scoring and leading the press. Prado changed the game for CGI April 7 U20 with his direct running, while Nunes delivered the decisive moment. The young visitors also received a composed display from their goalkeeper, who made two important saves late on.

Table and Season Impact

The win boosts CGI April 7 U20’s campaign in the Campeonato Carioca C and highlights the strength of their youth development pipeline. For Campos AA, the defeat is a missed opportunity to climb the standings at home. They remain in a competitive cluster, but they will need to turn promising first-half performances into full-match results if they are to challenge for promotion.
