Duque de Caxias RJ produced a commanding 3-0 away victory over Campo Grande CE in the Brazilian Campeonato Carioca C, with a composed attacking display and a brace from Rafael Siqueira sealing all three points.

The visitors were the sharper side from the opening minutes, pressing Campo Grande’s defenders and moving the ball quickly through midfield. Once Duque de Caxias took the lead, the match opened up, and the away side’s superior finishing made the difference on the scoreboard.

Match overview

Duque de Caxias took control early and opened the scoring in the first half through Rafael Siqueira, who finished confidently after a well-worked attacking move. Campo Grande CE tried to respond, but their build-up play was frequently interrupted by Duque’s aggressive pressing.

The second goal arrived after the break, again through Siqueira, effectively putting the visitors in command. Diego Nunes added a third later in the second half, converting a chance created by another quick transition. By that stage, Campo Grande’s resistance had faded, and Duque de Caxias managed the closing minutes comfortably.

Key moments

• Opening goal: Rafael Siqueira gave Duque de Caxias the lead with a composed first-half finish.
• Second-half control: Siqueira struck again to double the visitors’ advantage.
• Third goal: Diego Nunes made it 3-0 after another incisive Duque attack.
• Campo Grande response: The home side pushed forward late on, but Duque’s defence remained solid.
• Clean sheet: Duque de Caxias closed out the win without conceding, adding gloss to a strong away performance.

Tactical story

Duque de Caxias were organised and purposeful. Their midfield pressed Campo Grande’s ball-carriers, forcing hurried passes and creating turnovers in dangerous areas. When they won possession, they attacked with directness, often looking for Siqueira’s movement between the centre-backs and the space behind the full-backs.

Campo Grande CE struggled to build sustained pressure. They had spells of possession but lacked penetration in the final third, and their defensive line was exposed by Duque’s quick combinations. The 3-0 scoreline reflected the visitors’ superior efficiency rather than overwhelming dominance, but there was no doubt about which team looked more complete.

Standout performers

Rafael Siqueira was the clear standout, scoring twice and leading the line with intelligent movement. His finishing gave Duque de Caxias the cushion they needed, and his link-up play helped bring others into the game.

Diego Nunes also impressed, capping his performance with the third goal. In midfield, Duque’s engine room controlled the tempo and won important second balls, while Campo Grande’s goalkeeper prevented the scoreline from becoming even more one-sided with a few saves.

Table and title race impact

The win strengthens Duque de Caxias RJ’s position in the Campeonato Carioca C and sends a clear message about their ambitions. Away victories of this quality are valuable in a competition where travel, local rivalries, and tight pitches can make consistency difficult.

For Campo Grande CE, the 0-3 defeat is a setback that will require a quick response. The team showed effort but were punished for defensive lapses and a lack of cutting edge. Duque de Caxias, meanwhile, will take confidence from a clean sheet, a three-goal haul, and a performance that underlined their attacking potential in the Carioca C campaign.
