Belford Roxo 3-1 Barra Mansa: Hosts Strengthen Carioca C Push With Convincing Win

Belford Roxo RJ claimed a 3-1 victory over Barra Mansa FC in the Campeonato Carioca C on 27 October 2026, using home advantage and a strong second-half display to take all three points. The result gives Belford Roxo an important boost in the state competition, while Barra Mansa are left to regroup after a frustrating evening.

Played at the Estádio Nélio Gomes, the match had the intensity of a local rivalry. Belford Roxo started brightly, pressed with purpose and were rewarded for their ambition. Barra Mansa responded well at times, but defensive lapses proved costly.

Match Overview

Belford Roxo took the lead in the 18th minute through Léo Itaperuna, who found space at the back post and converted a low cross from the right. The goal lifted the hosts, and they doubled their advantage in the 39th minute when Caio Silva won possession on the edge of the box and curled a finish into the far corner.

Barra Mansa pulled one back just before half-time. A foul inside the area gave them a penalty, and Matheus Souza converted confidently to make it 2-1 at the break. That goal changed the mood temporarily, and Barra Mansa began the second half with more urgency.

However, Belford Roxo managed the game well. They slowed the tempo, defended deeper and looked for chances on the counter. The decisive moment came in the 76th minute when Léo Itaperuna scored his second of the match, finishing a quick break with a composed strike past the goalkeeper. Barra Mansa pushed late for a route back into the game, but Belford Roxo’s back line held firm.

Tactical Story

Belford Roxo set up with energy and aggression, pressing Barra Mansa’s midfield and forcing mistakes in dangerous areas. Their wide players stretched the defence, creating space for the forwards to attack crosses. It was a direct but effective approach, especially in the first half.

Barra Mansa’s response was built around possession and patient build-up. They found joy down the left in the second half, but their final ball lacked precision. When they did create openings, Belford Roxo’s goalkeeper was well positioned. The hosts’ ability to defend their lead and strike on the counter proved the difference.

Standout Players

• Léo Itaperuna: Two goals and constant movement made him the standout attacker on the pitch.
• Caio Silva: His goal and work rate in midfield gave Belford Roxo control in key moments.
• Matheus Souza: Barra Mansa’s brightest attacking threat and the scorer of their only goal.
• Belford Roxo goalkeeper: Made important saves in the second half to protect the lead.

Season Impact

The win strengthens Belford Roxo’s position in the Campeonato Carioca C standings and adds momentum to their campaign. In a competition where home results are crucial, this was exactly the kind of performance the coaching staff would have wanted: clinical in attack and resilient after conceding.

Barra Mansa remain capable of climbing the table, but they will need to cut out the defensive errors that undermined them here. The race for promotion places in Carioca C is often decided by small margins, and both sides will know that consistency over the coming weeks will matter just as much as this result.
