America-RJ U20 1-3 Serrano RJ U20: Serrano strike early and late in away win

Serrano RJ U20 claimed a well-earned 3-1 victory over America-RJ U20 in the Brazilian Campeonato Carioca 2 U20, using a fast start and a strong finish to take all three points. The visitors were the more direct and decisive team in the final third.

America-RJ U20 had a spell of control around their equalising goal, but they could not sustain it. Serrano restored their lead shortly after half-time and added a late third to put the result beyond doubt.

Match overview

Serrano began the match on the front foot and scored inside the first ten minutes. America-RJ responded well, finding space between the lines and equalising before half-time. At that stage, the match looked finely balanced.

The second half, however, belonged to Serrano. They raised their pressing intensity, won the ball back higher up the pitch, and created a series of chances. The third goal in the closing stages capped a confident away performance.

Key moments

• 9th minute – Serrano 1-0: Bruno opened the scoring with a composed finish after America-RJ lost possession in midfield.
• 38th minute – America-RJ 1-1: Pedro equalised with a low shot from the edge of the box, lifting the home side’s momentum.
• 54th minute – Serrano 2-1: Bruno struck again, finishing a quick move down the left with a first-time shot.
• 82nd minute – Serrano 3-1: A late counter-attack ended with a calm finish, sealing the three points.

Tactical story

Serrano’s high press caused America-RJ problems throughout the match. They targeted the home side’s first pass out of defence and forced several turnovers in dangerous areas. When they won the ball, they attacked vertically and did not allow America-RJ’s defenders time to set.

America-RJ’s equaliser came from their best period of the game, when they moved the ball quickly and found pockets of space. But they struggled to maintain that rhythm after half-time, and Serrano’s midfield took control of the second half.

Standout players

Bruno was the match-winner for Serrano RJ U20, scoring twice and constantly threatening in behind. His movement stretched the America-RJ defence and created space for his teammates. Serrano’s goalkeeper also made a key save at 2-1 to preserve the lead.

For America-RJ U20, Pedro was the standout, scoring a well-taken goal and linking play intelligently. The captain tried to rally the team, but they could not find a second equaliser.
