ADJG Jaguar delivered a confident home performance to defeat Santa Fe PE 3-1 in the Brazilian Pernambucano League, using a strong spell either side of half-time to turn a competitive match into a deserved three-point haul.

The win gives Jaguar momentum in the state championship and underlines their ability to control games on home soil. Santa Fe PE competed well in patches and found an equaliser in the first half, but defensive lapses and an inability to contain Jaguar’s wide attacks proved costly.

Match overview

Jaguar started with purpose and were rewarded in the 12th minute when Lucas Vinícius finished a slick attacking move. The hosts pressed high, forced Santa Fe into hurried clearances and created the clearer early chances.

Santa Fe PE grew into the contest and levelled in the 28th minute through João Pedro, who capitalised on a quick transition and beat the goalkeeper with a low finish. The equaliser briefly unsettled Jaguar, but the home side restored their lead four minutes before half-time when Rafael Moura converted from close range after a well-worked set-piece routine.

The second half followed a similar pattern: Jaguar controlled possession, Santa Fe looked to counter, and the hosts’ superiority told in the 73rd minute when Lucas Vinícius added his second goal of the night. Santa Fe pushed forward late in search of a route back into the game, but Jaguar managed the closing stages comfortably.

Tactical story

Jaguar set up with an aggressive 4-2-3-1 shape, pushing their full-backs high and asking the midfield double pivot to recycle possession quickly. That approach stretched Santa Fe’s 4-4-2 block and created repeated overloads in wide areas. Jaguar’s pressing also forced Santa Fe into turnovers in dangerous zones, particularly during the opening 20 minutes and the early part of the second half.

Santa Fe PE were at their most dangerous when they broke quickly through João Pedro and their supporting runners. However, their attempts to press Jaguar’s deep midfielders left space between the lines, and the hosts exploited that gap consistently after taking the lead for the second time. Jaguar’s ability to control the tempo in the final 15 minutes was a key difference between the sides.

Standout players

Lucas Vinícius was the clear attacking star for ADJG Jaguar, scoring twice and constantly troubling Santa Fe’s back line with his movement between the channels. Rafael Moura also impressed, adding the crucial second goal and linking play effectively in the final third.

For Santa Fe PE, João Pedro was their brightest performer, taking his goal well and remaining a threat on the counter. Their goalkeeper made several important saves to keep the scoreline respectable, but Santa Fe’s defenders will review the goals conceded with frustration.

Season impact

The victory strengthens ADJG Jaguar’s position in the Pernambucano League table and gives the squad confidence ahead of their next state fixture. For Santa Fe PE, the defeat leaves them needing a response in their upcoming matches, with defensive organisation likely to be a priority on the training ground.

Final score: ADJG Jaguar 3-1 Santa Fe PE.
