Criciuma (w) produced a commanding away performance in the Brazilian Paulista Women’s League, defeating Meninas de Jaragua W 4-1 on 26 October 2026. After conceding early, Criciuma responded with four unanswered goals to secure a result that strengthens their position in the table and underlines their attacking quality.

Criciuma recover from early setback

The match began in difficult circumstances for the visitors, with Meninas de Jaragua W starting brightly and taking the lead in the 12th minute. A quick move down the right created space in the box, and Ana Clara finished calmly to give the home side an early advantage.

The goal lifted the home crowd, but it also sparked Criciuma into a more assertive rhythm. They began to press higher, force errors in the Jaragua half and move the ball quickly through midfield. The equaliser arrived in the 22nd minute when Fernanda latched onto a loose ball on the edge of the area and drove a low strike into the bottom corner.

Criciuma took control before half-time. In the 38th minute, Fernanda struck again, reacting first to a rebound and converting from close range to make it 2-1. That goal changed the complexion of the contest, forcing Jaragua to chase the game after the interval.

Tactical story: pressing and transitions

Criciuma’s comeback was built on a disciplined pressing structure. Their midfield closed space quickly after losing possession, forcing Jaragua into hurried passes and limiting the home side’s ability to build through the middle. Once Criciuma settled into the match, their wide players stretched the defence and created room for central runners.

Jaragua’s early goal came from positive attacking play, but the home side struggled to maintain that intensity after falling behind. Criciuma’s ability to win second balls and turn defence into attack proved decisive, especially in the second half when the game became more open.

Standout performers

Fernanda was the clear standout for Criciuma, scoring twice and leading the attacking line with intelligent movement. Her equaliser settled the visitors, and her second goal gave them a cushion they never surrendered. Julia also impressed with her energy on the left, contributing a goal and repeatedly testing the Jaragua full-back.

For Meninas de Jaragua W, Ana Clara was the brightest attacking outlet and took her goal well. The home side’s goalkeeper made several saves to keep the score respectable, but Jaragua’s defensive line struggled to cope with Criciuma’s quick combinations in the final third.

League impact

The 4-1 win is a significant result in the Brazilian Paulista Women’s League standings. Criciuma’s three points strengthen their push for a top-half finish and give them momentum heading into the next round. The scoreline also improves their goal difference, which could prove valuable in a competitive table.

For Meninas de Jaragua W, the defeat leaves them searching for consistency and defensive solidity. The early lead showed what they can do going forward, but the manner of the collapse after Criciuma’s equaliser will be a concern. Both teams now turn to their next fixtures, with Criciuma looking to build on a convincing away win and Jaragua aiming for an immediate response.
