CA Independiente de la Chorrera Reserves 2-3 San Francisco Reserves — San Francisco Reserves edged a five-goal BRA LP reserve-team thriller on 21 October 2026, winning 3-2 away against CA Independiente de la Chorrera Reserves after a second-half comeback that swung the contest decisively in the visitors’ favour.

Match overview

The game began with Independiente looking to impose themselves at home, using direct forward runs and early crosses to test the San Francisco back line. That approach paid off when the hosts took the lead, but San Francisco responded well and gradually settled into a rhythm of their own. The visitors pressed higher as the first half progressed, forcing turnovers in midfield and creating the platform for an equaliser before the interval.

The second half was end-to-end. Independiente restored their advantage from the penalty spot, only for San Francisco to respond again through a well-worked move down the right. With the match seemingly headed for a draw, San Francisco found a late winner that capped a performance full of character and attacking intent.

Key moments

• 11' — Independiente take the lead: A quick break down the left ended with a composed finish inside the area, giving the home side an early advantage.
• 29' — San Francisco equalise: The visitors pressed high, won the ball back in midfield and levelled with a low strike from the edge of the box.
• 52' — Independiente restore their lead: The home captain converted a penalty after a foul in the area, making it 2-1.
• 71' — San Francisco equalise again: A neat exchange on the right opened up the defence, and the resulting cross was turned in at the back post.
• 87' — Late winner: San Francisco’s substitute forward latched onto a through ball and finished calmly to complete the comeback.

Tactical story

Independiente’s plan was built on getting the ball forward quickly and attacking the penalty area with numbers. It worked in patches, particularly in the first half, but it also left them exposed to San Francisco’s counter-press. The visitors grew into the game by winning second balls in midfield and using their wide players to stretch the home defence. Their equalisers came from exactly that kind of pressure: quick regains, sharp combinations and willingness to commit bodies forward.

San Francisco’s decision to introduce fresh legs in the second half proved important. The substitute forward added movement in behind and gave Independiente’s centre-backs a different problem to solve. The late winner came from a direct pass that split the defence, a fitting end to a match in which the visitors’ persistence and superior late-game energy made the difference.

Standout performers

San Francisco’s midfield engine set the tone with aggressive pressing and intelligent distribution, while the substitute forward changed the game with the winning goal. Independiente’s captain was central to their best moments, driving forward and converting the penalty, and their goalkeeper made several important stops to keep the home side in the contest. In the end, though, San Francisco’s collective resilience and ability to respond after conceding twice stood out.

League impact

The three points give San Francisco Reserves a valuable away win in the BRA LP reserve competition and underline their ability to compete in high-scoring fixtures. For CA Independiente de la Chorrera Reserves, the defeat is a frustrating one after twice taking the lead, and it highlights the need to manage late-game situations more carefully. The result adds another layer of intrigue to the reserve-team table, where consistency and squad depth are already proving decisive.
