Uniao Frederiquense RS 1-1 Brasil de Pelotas: Honours Even in Campeonato Gaucho 2

Uniao Frederiquense RS and Brasil de Pelotas shared the spoils in a hard-fought 1-1 draw in the Brazilian Campeonato Gaucho 2 on Monday, October 19, 2026. Uniao took the lead in the first half, but Brasil de Pelotas responded with a determined second-half equaliser to claim a point on the road.

Match overview

The game began at a brisk pace, with Uniao Frederiquense RS looking to impose themselves on home soil and Brasil de Pelotas trying to control possession through midfield. The hosts were compact without the ball and dangerous on the break, while Brasil de Pelotas gradually grew into the game and began to ask questions with crosses into the penalty area.

After a tightly contested opening half-hour, Uniao found the breakthrough and briefly had the better of the momentum. Brasil de Pelotas, however, adjusted after the interval, pushed their wingers higher and created enough chances to level the score. Neither side settled for the draw in the final stages, but both defences held firm in the closing moments.

Key moments

• 34th minute: Rafael Menezes gave Uniao Frederiquense RS the lead with a well-placed finish after a quick exchange on the edge of the box.
• 45+1 minute: Brasil de Pelotas nearly equalised before half-time, but a header from a corner was cleared off the line.
• 71st minute: Tiago Honorato levelled the match for Brasil de Pelotas, converting from close range after sustained pressure.
• 84th minute: Uniao’s goalkeeper produced an important save to deny Brasil de Pelotas a late winner.
• 90+3 minutes: The hosts won a final free-kick in a dangerous area, but the delivery was cleared and the points were shared.

Tactical story

Uniao Frederiquense RS set up with a compact midfield and looked to spring forward quickly whenever they regained possession. Their goal came from exactly that approach: a short, sharp passing sequence that opened space for Rafael Menezes to finish. Without the ball, the hosts worked hard to close the central areas and force Brasil de Pelotas wide.

Brasil de Pelotas responded by increasing the tempo after half-time and committing more players to the attack. Their equaliser was reward for a spell of sustained pressure, and they could have won it late had it not been for a strong save from the Uniao goalkeeper. The final scoreline felt fair in a match where both teams had spells of control but neither managed to dominate for the full 90 minutes.

Standout performers

Rafael Menezes was Uniao Frederiquense RS’s most influential player, scoring the opening goal and linking play intelligently between midfield and attack. Tiago Honorato was the key figure for Brasil de Pelotas, taking his equaliser well and driving his team forward during their best period of the second half. Both goalkeepers also made important contributions, ensuring the contest remained level.

What the result means

The draw adds a point to each club’s tally in the Campeonato Gaucho 2 standings and keeps both sides in the thick of the early-season race. For Uniao Frederiquense RS, there will be frustration at not protecting their lead, but also encouragement from a disciplined overall performance. Brasil de Pelotas can take confidence from their second-half response and their ability to create chances away from home. The point leaves both teams with positives to build on as the campaign progresses.
