EC MDE (W) power to 4-1 victory over Vilavelhense (w) in Campeonato Capixaba

EC MDE (W) produced a dominant second-half display to defeat Vilavelhense (w) 4-1 in the Brazilian Campeonato Capixaba on September 21, 2026. The away side were ruthless in front of goal, scoring three unanswered goals after the break to turn a competitive match into a one-sided affair. The result strengthens EC MDE’s position in the women’s state championship and leaves Vilavelhense searching for answers.

Match Overview

The opening exchanges were evenly contested, with Vilavelhense looking lively in front of their home supporters. However, it was EC MDE who struck first in the 19th minute, capitalising on a defensive lapse to score from close range. Vilavelhense responded well and equalised in the 34th minute with a well-placed free-kick that curled into the top corner. The teams went into halftime level at 1-1, with everything to play for.

The second half was a different story. EC MDE came out with renewed intensity and regained the lead in the 58th minute through a clinical counterattack. Just seven minutes later, they extended their advantage with a penalty after a foul in the box. Vilavelhense tried to respond but were repeatedly caught on the break, and EC MDE sealed the win with a fourth goal in the 82nd minute. The scoreline flattered the visitors slightly, but their finishing was ruthless.

Key Moments

• 58th minute: EC MDE regain the lead on a rapid counterattack.

Tactical Story

EC MDE lined up in a 4-3-3 with a clear focus on attacking down the flanks. Their wingers were instructed to stay high and wide, stretching the Vilavelhense defence and creating space for the midfielders to run into. Vilavelhense used a 4-4-2 that worked hard but struggled to cope with the pace of EC MDE’s transitions. The away side’s midfield trio dominated the second half, winning the ball back quickly and launching immediate attacks.

Vilavelhense’s biggest issue was their inability to deal with counterattacks. As they pushed forward in search of an equaliser, they left gaping holes at the back, which EC MDE exploited ruthlessly. The penalty and the fourth goal both came from situations where Vilavelhense had committed too many players forward. It was a harsh lesson in game management for the home side.

Standout Performers

EC MDE’s centre-forward was the star of the show, scoring twice and holding the ball up brilliantly to bring others into play. Their right winger also impressed with constant dribbling and dangerous crosses. For Vilavelhense, their free-kick scorer was the standout, and their goalkeeper made several saves to prevent an even heavier defeat.

Season Impact

With this victory, EC MDE (W) climb up the Campeonato Capixaba table and send a warning to their title rivals. Vilavelhense (w) remain in a difficult position and will need to tighten up defensively if they are to climb away from the lower reaches. The two teams are scheduled to meet again later in the season, and Vilavelhense will be desperate for revenge on that occasion.
