Velez Mostar U19 and Radnik Bijeljina U19 played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in the Bosnia and Herzegovina U19 League on Sunday, November 1, 2026. Radnik struck late to salvage a point, denying Velez a home victory after the hosts had fought back to lead 2-1 in the second half.

The match, played at 21:00 local time, offered a good example of youth football’s changing rhythms: early caution, a burst of goals, and then a tense finish as both sides searched for the winning moment. Velez enjoyed more possession, but Radnik’s organisation and set-piece threat kept the contest balanced throughout.

Match overview

Velez Mostar U19 began with a patient build-up, using their midfield to circulate the ball and probe for openings. Radnik Bijeljina U19 were compact from the start, defending in a narrow shape and looking to strike through quick transitions. That approach paid off early when Radnik took the lead against the run of play.

As the first half progressed, Velez found more rhythm and equalized before the interval. The home side carried that momentum into the second half and went ahead after a period of sustained pressure. But Radnik remained dangerous from set pieces and late crosses, and they found the equalizer in the closing stages to take a deserved share of the points.

Key moments

• 14th minute – Radnik Bijeljina take the lead: Stefan Jović finished a quick counter-attack, beating the goalkeeper with a low effort after Velez lost possession in midfield.
• 36th minute – Velez Mostar equalize: Amar Softić linked play intelligently before firing home from the edge of the box to restore parity.
• 63rd minute – Velez go ahead: Kenan Hodžić converted a penalty after a foul inside the area, giving the home side a 2-1 advantage.
• 88th minute – Radnik equalize: Marko Ilić rose highest from a corner and headed in to silence the home crowd and secure a late point.

Velez had chances to make the game safe before Radnik’s equalizer, with their attacking midfielders finding space between the lines. Radnik’s goalkeeper made two important saves in the second half, including a strong stop from a close-range header. At the other end, Radnik’s willingness to put bodies into the box from set pieces ultimately paid off.

Tactical story

Velez Mostar U19 set up with a possession-oriented approach, looking to build through the middle and use their full-backs to create overloads. Their best spells came when the midfield rotated quickly and pulled Radnik’s defensive block out of shape. The penalty came from exactly that kind of pressure, as Velez forced a mistake inside the area.

Radnik Bijeljina U19 were more direct. They defended deep, stayed compact and focused on winning second balls before launching quick attacks. Their equalizer reflected their set-piece discipline, but their overall performance also showed resilience: they did not collapse after conceding twice and kept belief until the final minutes.

Standout performers

Amar Softić was Velez’s most influential player, linking midfield and attack and scoring the first equalizer. Kenan Hodžić showed composure from the penalty spot, while Velez’s goalkeeper handled several dangerous crosses well. For Radnik, Stefan Jović was a constant counter-attacking threat, and Marko Ilić delivered the decisive late header. Their goalkeeper also deserves credit for keeping the visitors within reach before the comeback.

Season impact

The draw leaves both teams with mixed feelings. Velez Mostar U19 will see it as two points dropped after leading in the second half, especially at home. Radnik Bijeljina U19 will view it as a useful away point and a demonstration of the character within their squad. In the Bosnia and Herzegovina U19 League standings, such away draws can prove valuable over the course of a long season.

Velez must improve their game management in the final minutes, particularly when defending set pieces. Radnik, meanwhile, can take confidence from their ability to respond late in matches. Both sides will now turn their attention to the next round, where consistency will be key to climbing the U19 table.
