HSK Zrinjski Mostar delivered a dominant away performance to beat NK Celik Zenica 3-0 in the Bosnia and Herzegovina Premier League, strengthening their credentials at the top end of the table.

Zrinjski Mostar controlled the match from the early stages, imposing their possession game and forcing Celik Zenica to defend deep. The visitors’ movement and precision in the final third proved too much for the home side, who struggled to find a foothold in the contest.

Match overview

The opening goal set the tone. Zrinjski Mostar circulated the ball patiently before finding a decisive pass into the penalty area, and the finish was clinical. Celik Zenica tried to respond, but their attacks lacked the fluency needed to trouble a well-organised Zrinjski defence.

A second goal before half-time gave the visitors a comfortable advantage. After the break, Zrinjski managed the game expertly, denying Celik space in midfield and adding a third goal to put the result beyond any doubt. The home side’s frustration grew as the match wore on, while Zrinjski’s confidence never wavered.

Key moments

• Early opener: Zrinjski Mostar took the lead with a composed finish after a patient attacking move.
• Second before the break: The visitors doubled their advantage at a crucial moment, leaving Celik Zenica with a difficult half-time deficit to overturn.
• Third goal: A well-executed attack after the interval effectively ended the contest and highlighted Zrinjski’s superiority.
• Defensive resilience: Zrinjski kept a clean sheet, limiting Celik’s best chances and managing the closing stages comfortably.

Tactical story

Zrinjski Mostar’s approach was built on control and patience. Their midfield dictated the rhythm, and their full-backs provided width when the home side tried to close central spaces. The visitors were particularly effective at creating overloads on the flanks and then switching play to exploit the gaps that opened up.

Celik Zenica attempted to press higher in the second half, but that only created more room for Zrinjski to exploit. The home side’s defensive line was stretched repeatedly, and their midfield struggled to track runners arriving from deep. Zrinjski’s ability to win second balls and sustain attacks made the difference over the full 90 minutes.

Standout performers

Zrinjski’s midfield controller was central to the victory, linking play and setting the tempo with intelligent passing. The forward line also impressed, showing sharp movement and clinical finishing. At the back, the centre-backs dealt with Celik’s limited attacking threat and ensured the clean sheet remained intact.

For Celik Zenica, the goalkeeper made several saves to prevent an even heavier defeat, while a few individual efforts offered brief encouragement. However, the team as a whole could not match Zrinjski’s quality in possession or their intensity out of it.

What the result means

The three points are valuable for Zrinjski Mostar in the Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina title race. A 3-0 away win sends a clear message about their ambition and gives them momentum heading into the next round of fixtures. The clean sheet will also please the coaching staff, as defensive solidity remains essential in a competitive league.

Celik Zenica will need to regroup after a difficult afternoon. Their home form is important if they are to move clear of trouble and establish consistency, but this result underlined the gap between the two sides on the day. Zrinjski, by contrast, look well placed to keep pressure on their rivals at the top of the standings.
