NK Široki Brijeg claimed a hard-fought 1-0 away win at FK Sloga Doboj in the Bosnia and Herzegovina Premier League on Saturday, October 17, 2026. A second-half goal from Ivan Miličević was enough to secure all three points in a tightly contested match.

Match Overview

Sloga Doboj, playing at home, started brightly and looked to take the game to their more established opponents. The hosts pressed high and forced several early corners, but Široki Brijeg's defence stood firm. The visitors gradually grew into the game and began to control possession.

Tactical Story

Široki Brijeg set up in a disciplined 4-4-2, looking to stay compact and hit Sloga Doboj on the break. Their midfield duo worked tirelessly to shield the back four, and the wingers tracked back diligently. The game plan worked perfectly: they absorbed pressure and then struck with a clinical counter-attack.

Sloga Doboj dominated possession in the second half but struggled to break down a well-organised defence. Their manager made attacking substitutions, but the lack of a cutting edge in the final third proved costly. Široki Brijeg's experience in the Bosnian top flight showed in the closing stages, as they managed the game professionally and ran down the clock.

Standout Players

Ivan Miličević was the match-winner, taking his goal with real composure. Široki Brijeg's goalkeeper Marko Perić was outstanding, making two crucial late saves. Centre-back Josip Barišić also impressed with a commanding defensive display. For Sloga Doboj, midfielder Stefan Jovanović was their best player, driving forward and creating chances, while striker Adnan Hodžić worked hard but was starved of service.

Season Impact

The win moves Široki Brijeg up the Bosnia and Herzegovina Premier League table and strengthens their position in the upper half. A club with a proud cup history, they will now look to build momentum in the coming weeks. Sloga Doboj remain in the relegation-threatened group and will need to start converting possession into goals. Their next match, against a fellow struggler, already looks like a must-win fixture. The reverse fixture between these two sides later in the season could prove equally significant in the battle for survival.
