Borac Banja Luka avoided a potential Bosnia and Herzegovina Cup upset with a professional 2-0 victory over FK Krajina Cazin on 28 October 2026. Goals in each half were enough for the top-flight side, who controlled large spells of the tie and advanced to the next round without ever looking seriously threatened.

Match overview

Krajina Cazin began with energy and tried to make the tie uncomfortable for their more established opponents. They defended in a deep block, closed down space in midfield and looked to spring counter-attacks through the channels. Borac Banja Luka, however, remained patient and gradually imposed their quality on the ball.

The breakthrough came in the 32nd minute. Borac worked the ball wide before delivering a cross into a dangerous area, and their striker guided a header beyond the goalkeeper. The goal settled the visitors, who began to move the ball more quickly and created several half-chances before the interval.

Borac doubled their advantage in the 68th minute with a goal that reflected their control of the game. A sustained passing move pulled Krajina out of shape, and a low finish from the edge of the box found the bottom corner. Krajina responded with late pressure and a few set pieces, but Borac's defence held firm to secure a clean sheet.

Key moments

• 18' – Krajina's early chance: A quick counter ended with a shot from distance that forced a save from Borac's goalkeeper.
• 32' – Borac Banja Luka 1-0: A wide cross was met with a strong header to break the deadlock.
• 68' – Borac Banja Luka 2-0: A patient passing move created space at the edge of the area, and the finish was clinical.
• 84' – Krajina denied: A header from a corner was cleared off the line as Borac protected their clean sheet.

Tactical story

Krajina's game plan was built on discipline and counter-attacking, and it worked for half an hour. Their midfield stayed compact, and the back four defended the box well. The problem was sustaining that intensity once Borac began to circulate the ball with more purpose.

Borac Banja Luka used their wide players aggressively, stretching Krajina's defensive line and creating space between the full-backs and centre-backs. Their midfield also controlled the second balls, which allowed them to sustain pressure. Once the second goal went in, Borac managed the game expertly, dropping slightly deeper and denying Krajina any clear route back into the tie.

Standout players

Borac's winger Nikola Savić was a constant outlet, delivering the cross for the opening goal and causing problems throughout. Central defender Marko Ilić was equally important, winning aerial duels and organising the back line during Krajina's late push.

Krajina Cazin goalkeeper Denis Hodžić produced several saves to keep the score respectable, while midfielder Adnan Kovačević worked tirelessly in front of the defence. Their efforts underlined why Krajina were able to stay in the contest for long periods.

What the result means

For Borac Banja Luka, this was a professional cup performance: no drama, no unnecessary risk and a place in the next round. The clean sheet will be particularly pleasing as they balance cup commitments with league ambitions. Krajina Cazin exit the competition with credit, having made the tie competitive against one of the stronger sides in the country.
