NK Travnik edged past Brotnjo Citluk 2-1 in the Bosnia and Herzegovina Cup on 28 October 2026, producing a composed second-half performance to book their place in the next round. In a cup tie that swung on fine margins, the visitors recovered from an early setback and found the decisive goal in the closing quarter of the match.

Match overview

Brotnjo Citluk started brightly in front of their home support and were rewarded for their early pressure when they opened the scoring in the 18th minute. The hosts pressed high, forced a turnover in midfield and worked the ball into the penalty area, where their striker finished confidently from close range.

Travnik responded well rather than retreating. They began to dominate possession and stretched the Brotnjo back line with width, eventually equalising four minutes before half-time. A well-worked move down the right ended with a low cross that was converted at the near post, sending the teams into the break level at 1-1.

The second half was more controlled from Travnik. They slowed the tempo, circulated the ball patiently and waited for gaps to appear. The winning moment arrived in the 74th minute when a midfield runner arrived late in the box to meet a cut-back and side-footed the ball into the bottom corner. Brotnjo pushed for an equaliser late on, but Travnik defended their lead with maturity.

Key moments

• 18' – Brotnjo Citluk 1-0: A high press forced a mistake, and the hosts converted their first clear chance.
• 41' – Brotnjo Citluk 1-1: Travnik's persistence paid off with a slick move and a near-post finish.
• 74' – Brotnjo Citluk 1-2: A late run into the box and a composed finish gave Travnik the lead for the first time.
• 88' – Crucial save: Travnik's goalkeeper denied Brotnjo an equaliser with a strong stop at his near post.

Tactical story

Brotnjo Citluk set up to be compact and dangerous on the counter, and for the opening half-hour that approach worked well. Their midfield pressed aggressively and forced Travnik into several rushed passes. However, as the match wore on, Brotnjo's energy dropped and Travnik's superior ball retention began to tell.

Travnik adjusted by pushing their full-backs higher and creating overloads on the flanks. That change stretched Brotnjo's defensive shape and created the space needed for the equaliser and later the winner. The visitors also managed the game intelligently after taking the lead, slowing the tempo and forcing Brotnjo to chase the ball.

Standout players

Travnik's central midfielder Amar Jašarević was instrumental in the comeback, linking play and setting the tempo. His late run produced the winning goal, but his overall control of the midfield was just as important. Goalkeeper Edin Husić also deserves credit for a late save that protected the result.

For Brotnjo Citluk, forward Ivan Marić was the brightest attacking threat. He scored the opener and continued to battle against a physical Travnik defence, but he lacked consistent support in the second half.

What the result means

The win sends NK Travnik into the next round of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Cup, where they will hope to build on the resilience shown in this away performance. For Brotnjo Citluk, the cup exit is a disappointment, but the display offered encouragement for their league campaign. The hosts showed they can compete against stronger opposition and will now turn their attention to domestic fixtures.
