At the Volna Stadium, the visitors recovered from an early deficit and took control after the break, securing a result that boosts their promotion ambitions and leaves Volna searching for consistency.

Volna Pinsk started brightly and took the lead in the 12th minute when a well-worked set piece ended with a close-range finish. The home crowd sensed an upset, but Energetik-BGU responded calmly. The equaliser arrived in the 41st minute, a slick move down the right ending with a low cross that was converted at the back post. After half-time, the visitors raised their intensity. They went ahead in the 63rd minute through a fine individual effort from just inside the box, and sealed the win in the 88th minute on the counter-attack.

Match Overview

The first half was evenly contested, with Volna looking dangerous from dead balls and Energetik-BGU gradually finding space between the lines. The visitors' midfield began to dictate terms after the interval, pressing higher and forcing turnovers. Volna's defence, which had been resilient early on, struggled to contain the runners in behind. Energetik-BGU managed the game well in the final 20 minutes, slowing the tempo and hitting on the break.

Tactical Story

Volna set up in a 4-4-2, looking to press in wide areas and deliver early crosses. It worked early, but as the game wore on, their midfield two were outnumbered by Energetik-BGU's three-man central unit. The visitors used a 4-3-3 with a false nine dropping deep to link play, creating space for the wide forwards to run into. That tactical battle proved decisive: Energetik-BGU's extra man in midfield allowed them to control possession and launch quick transitions, while Volna's defensive line was repeatedly exposed.

Standout Players

Energetik-BGU's central midfielder was the game's outstanding performer, dictating tempo and providing the assist for the equaliser. Their right winger caused problems all evening and capped his display with a goal. For Volna, the set-piece taker was a threat and the goalkeeper made a couple of important saves, but the home side lacked a sustained attacking threat after the opening half-hour.

Season Impact

The win strengthens Energetik-BGU Minsk's position in the upper reaches of the Belarusian First League table and adds momentum to their promotion push. Volna Pinsk remain in the middle of the pack, and this defeat highlights the gap between them and the division's stronger sides. The head-to-head now favours Energetik-BGU, who will look to build on this result in their next fixture. Volna, meanwhile, must tighten up defensively if they are to climb the standings.
