Volna Pinsk produced a convincing away performance to beat FK BumProm Gomel 3-1 in the Belarusian First League on Saturday 24 October 2026, strengthening their push near the top of the table with a controlled and clinical display. The visitors scored at key moments and absorbed pressure well, leaving Gomel to rue a series of missed opportunities in front of their home supporters.

Match overview

The contest began at a brisk tempo, with FK BumProm Gomel looking to use home advantage and press high up the pitch. Volna Pinsk, however, settled quickly and showed why they are regarded as one of the more dangerous attacking sides in the division. Their early passing was sharper, and they opened the scoring in the 18th minute when a quick move down the right ended with a composed finish inside the area.

Gomel responded positively and enjoyed a good spell before half-time, forcing a couple of saves and winning several corners. But Volna’s defensive organisation held firm, and the away side doubled their advantage early in the second half. A third goal in the 79th minute effectively settled the match, even though Gomel grabbed a consolation strike late on.

Key moments

• 18th minute: Volna Pinsk took the lead with a flowing move, finished calmly by Ilya Sazonov.
• 34th minute: BumProm Gomel’s best chance of the first half ended with a header drifting just wide.
• 52nd minute: Volna doubled the lead from a set-piece, with Artem Koval reacting quickest to a loose ball.
• 79th minute: A rapid counter-attack made it 3-0, Koval finishing low beyond the goalkeeper for his second of the night.
• 87th minute: Gomel pulled one back through Denis Moroz, but the goal came too late to spark a comeback.

Tactical story

Volna Pinsk’s 4-3-3 system worked effectively on the road. The midfield trio pressed as a unit, cutting off central passing lanes and forcing Gomel to go long more often than they would have liked. When Volna won the ball back, they transitioned quickly, with their wide forwards stretching the defence and creating space for late runners from midfield.

FK BumProm Gomel tried to build patiently from the back, but they were repeatedly hurried into mistakes by Volna’s aggressive pressing. Their best moments came when they switched play quickly and got their full-backs involved, yet the final ball lacked precision. Defensively, Gomel struggled to deal with Volna’s movement in and around the penalty area, and the second goal in particular exposed their difficulty in clearing set-piece situations.

Standout performers

Artem Koval was the standout figure for Volna Pinsk, scoring twice and leading the counter-attack with intelligence. His movement between the lines made him difficult to mark, and his finishing was ruthless when chances arrived. Ilya Sazonov also impressed with his energy and link-up play, while the Volna goalkeeper handled Gomel’s second-half pressure with composure.

For Gomel, Denis Moroz’s late goal was a small reward for his persistence, and the midfielder was one of the few home players able to carry the ball forward consistently. The result, though, highlighted the gap in efficiency between the two sides on the night.

Table impact and what’s next

The victory keeps Volna Pinsk firmly in the conversation among the Belarusian First League’s leading contenders, adding another away win to a season that is beginning to look increasingly promising. For FK BumProm Gomel, the defeat leaves them with work to do as they seek to climb away from the lower reaches of the standings.

Volna’s ability to score in different ways — through open play, set-pieces and counter-attacks — will encourage their coaching staff. Gomel, meanwhile, must turn promising spells into goals. The next round offers both clubs a quick opportunity to respond, and the table could look noticeably different if results fall their way.
