The Strongest U19 claimed a 2-0 victory over ABB U19 in the BLN U19 on 16 September 2026, producing a disciplined and efficient performance in front of their home supporters. Two well-crafted goals were enough to separate the sides, while a solid defensive display ensured ABB U19 were kept at arm’s length for most of the match.

The win adds three valuable points to The Strongest U19’s league campaign and reinforces their reputation as a difficult team to break down on home soil. ABB U19, despite flashes of quality in midfield, were left to rue a lack of cutting edge in the final third.

Match Overview

The Strongest U19 began the match with purpose, pressing high and forcing ABB U19 into early mistakes. Their reward came in the 27th minute when Mateo Vargas found space at the edge of the box and curled a precise left-footed shot into the bottom corner. The goal settled the home side, who continued to dominate possession and create half-chances through quick combinations on the flanks.

ABB U19 responded with a brief spell of pressure before half-time, but The Strongest U19’s back line held firm. The second goal arrived in the 64th minute, effectively putting the game beyond reach. Diego Choque, who had been a constant threat with his runs from midfield, arrived late in the penalty area to convert a low cross from the right. From that point on, The Strongest U19 managed the game intelligently, slowing the tempo and limiting ABB U19’s opportunities to build momentum.

Key Moments

• 27' – Vargas opens the scoring: Mateo Vargas cut inside from the left and bent a fine shot beyond the ABB U19 goalkeeper.
• 41' – ABB U19’s best chance: A free-kick from the edge of the box forced a flying save from The Strongest U19 goalkeeper.
• 64' – Choque doubles the lead: Diego Choque timed his run perfectly to meet a right-wing cross and side-foot the ball home.
• 82' – Late defensive stand: The Strongest U19 cleared a dangerous corner and then kept possession patiently to see out the closing stages.

Tactical Story

The Strongest U19 set up in a compact 4-4-2 that shifted into a 4-5-1 without the ball. Their midfield screen protected the back four well, and ABB U19 struggled to find pockets of space between the lines. When The Strongest U19 won possession, they looked to attack quickly through the wide areas, with both full-backs providing overlapping runs that stretched the opposition defence.

ABB U19 tried to build from the back with short passes, but The Strongest U19’s disciplined pressing forced several turnovers in dangerous areas. The visitors’ best moments came from set-pieces and long-range efforts, but they rarely managed to create clear-cut chances from open play. The home side’s game management in the final 20 minutes was particularly impressive, as they kept the ball in the corners and drew fouls to run down the clock.

Standout Players

Mateo Vargas was the attacking catalyst for The Strongest U19, combining sharp dribbling with an eye for goal. His opening strike was the highlight of the first half. Diego Choque controlled the midfield tempo and capped his performance with the second goal, while the centre-back partnership dealt confidently with ABB U19’s aerial threat. The goalkeeper also deserves credit for a crucial save just before half-time that preserved the lead.

For ABB U19, the central midfielder who dictated play in patches was their most composed performer, and the right-winger showed pace and directness. However, the team’s strikers were often isolated, and their inability to test The Strongest U19’s goalkeeper consistently proved costly.

League Impact

With this 2-0 result, The Strongest U19 strengthen their position in the BLN U19 standings and continue to build momentum in the youth campaign. Home form is often decisive in youth leagues, and this clean sheet will give the coaching staff plenty of encouragement. The three points also provide a confidence boost ahead of a demanding run of fixtures.

ABB U19 remain a competitive side with quality in midfield, but they will need to convert possession into more shots on goal if they are to climb the table. The BLN U19 season is long, and there is still time for them to respond, but this defeat highlights the fine margins that separate the top teams in the division.
