Sporting Football des Cascades 0-3 Sonabel Ouagadougou — Sonabel Ouagadougou produced a commanding away performance to defeat Sporting Football des Cascades 3-0 in the Burkina Faso Division 1 on October 10, 2026.

From the first whistle, Sonabel looked the sharper and more organised side. They pressed high, won second balls in midfield, and capitalised on defensive errors to take control of the contest. Sporting Football des Cascades struggled to settle, and by the time they found any rhythm, the visitors had already built a decisive lead.

Match Overview

Sonabel opened the scoring in the 12th minute when Ibrahim Ouattara latched onto a through ball and slotted past the goalkeeper. The early goal set the tone. Cascades tried to respond through long balls and wide deliveries, but Sonabel’s back line remained compact and alert.

The visitors doubled their advantage in the 34th minute. A well-worked corner was met by Adama Traoré, whose powerful header gave the Cascades goalkeeper no chance. That goal knocked the wind out of the home side, and Sonabel went into half-time with a comfortable 2-0 lead.

The second half was more controlled from Sonabel. They managed the game intelligently, slowing the tempo when needed and breaking forward with purpose. The third goal arrived in the 71st minute on a clinical counter-attack, with Ouattara grabbing his second of the match. Cascades’ best chance came late, but a fine save preserved Sonabel’s clean sheet.

Key Moments

• 12’ — 0-1: Ibrahim Ouattara opened the scoring after a quick through ball split the defence.
• 34’ — 0-2: Adama Traoré headed home from a corner, doubling Sonabel’s lead.
• 58’ — Big save: The Sonabel goalkeeper denied Cascades from close range to maintain the two-goal cushion.
• 71’ — 0-3: Ouattara completed his brace, finishing a fast counter-attack with composure.
• 84’ — Late chance: Cascades forced a save from a free-kick, but the visitors held firm.

Tactical Story

Sonabel set up in a 4-3-3 and used their midfield to suffocate Cascades’ build-up play. Their high press forced hurried passes, and their transitions were swift and direct. The front three constantly rotated, making it difficult for the home defence to mark runners.

Cascades, by contrast, lined up in a 4-2-3-1 but struggled to connect midfield and attack. Their wide players were isolated for long periods, and the central striker received little service. Defensively, they were vulnerable from set pieces and counters, two areas Sonabel exploited ruthlessly.

Standout Players

Ibrahim Ouattara was the obvious match-winner for Sonabel, scoring twice and leading the line with intelligence. Adama Traoré was dominant in the air and added a goal from defence, while the Sonabel goalkeeper made key saves to secure the clean sheet. For Cascades, the midfield captain worked tirelessly, but the team lacked a cutting edge in the final third.

Burkina Faso Division 1 Table Impact

This result gives Sonabel Ouagadougou a significant boost in the Burkina Faso Division 1 standings. A 3-0 away win strengthens their goal difference and sends a message to the rest of the division. For Sporting Football des Cascades, it is a chastening defeat that leaves them searching for answers, particularly in defence and in their ability to create chances against organised opposition.

Cascades will need a quick response in their next outing, while Sonabel will look to carry this momentum forward as they push up the table.
