Sporting Football des Cascades produced a dominant home performance to beat Maya 4-1 in Burkina Faso Division 1 action on 24 October 2026, claiming three points with a clinical second-half display. The hosts combined quick passing with aggressive pressing and pulled away after a competitive opening period, leaving Maya with little response in the final stages.

Match Overview

Played at the Stade Municipal de Banfora, the match began with both sides looking to impose themselves. Sporting des Cascades were the more positive team early on, pushing their full-backs high and creating overloads on the flanks. That pressure told in the 12th minute when Ousmane Kaboré opened the scoring with a composed finish after a neat exchange on the edge of the box.

Maya responded with a spell of possession and threatened from set pieces, but Sporting doubled their advantage in the 34th minute through Issa Sanou, who arrived late in the area to convert a low cross. Maya pulled one back shortly after the restart to briefly raise hopes of a comeback, but Sporting restored their two-goal cushion just after the hour and added a fourth late on to seal a convincing win.

Key Moments

• 12’ – Sporting take the lead: Ousmane Kaboré finishes neatly after a quick attacking move.
• 34’ – Second goal: Issa Sanou scores from close range following a dangerous cross from the right.
• 49’ – Maya reply: A well-worked set piece ends with a header that beats the Sporting goalkeeper.
• 61’ – Sporting restore control: Kaboré turns provider, setting up Adama Ouattara to make it 3-1.
• 78’ – Fourth goal: Kaboré caps a strong individual display with his second goal of the match.

Tactical Story

Sporting des Cascades were organised and purposeful from the first whistle. Their midfield pressed in a coordinated unit, forcing Maya into hurried passes and allowing the hosts to win the ball back in dangerous areas. The full-backs provided constant width, and the front three rotated well to create space between Maya’s centre-backs and full-backs.

Maya’s best moments came from set pieces and occasional counter-attacks, but they struggled to sustain pressure. After conceding the third goal, their shape became more stretched as they chased the game, and Sporting took full advantage by controlling possession and creating further chances. The home side’s game management in the final 20 minutes was particularly impressive, as they slowed the tempo and protected their lead.

Standout Players

Ousmane Kaboré was the standout performer, scoring twice and providing an assist in a complete attacking display. Issa Sanou’s energy in midfield helped Sporting dominate the central areas, while Adama Ouattara’s movement caused problems throughout. For Maya, the goalkeeper made several saves to prevent a heavier defeat, and their captain worked tirelessly in midfield despite the scoreline.

Season Impact

The victory gives Sporting des Cascades a valuable boost in the Burkina Faso Division 1 standings and reinforces their reputation as a difficult side to beat at home. The three points and the four-goal performance will build confidence ahead of their next fixture. For Maya, the defeat is a setback, but the early stages of the match showed enough attacking intent to suggest they can respond in the coming weeks. In a league where home form often shapes the title race and relegation battle alike, Sporting’s ruthless display could prove significant.
