FocuSport FC produced a thrilling attacking display to beat Sonabel Ouagadougou 3-2 in a pulsating Burkina Faso Division 1 encounter at the Stade Municipal de Ouagadougou on Saturday night. The five-goal contest swung one way and then the other before the hosts found a late winner to claim all three points in front of a lively home crowd.

Match Overview

The match kicked off at 23:30 local time, and it took little time for the home side to impose themselves. FocuSport FC lined up in a 4-3-3 and looked to press high, while Sonabel Ouagadougou sat deeper and looked to spring quick counterattacks. The early exchanges set the tone for a frantic, end-to-end game.

By the final whistle, FocuSport had edged a classic. The three points lift them into a more comfortable position in the Burkina Faso Division 1 standings, while Sonabel are left to rue a spirited but ultimately fruitless comeback.

Key Moments

• 12th minute: FocuSport took the lead when Issouf Ouattara latched onto a through ball and slotted past the goalkeeper.
• 28th minute: Sonabel responded well, equalizing through a well-worked move finished by Abdoulaye Sawadogo.
• 41st minute: The hosts regained the advantage just before half-time, with a header from a corner by Karim Traoré.
• 63rd minute: Sonabel equalized again, a stunning long-range strike from Ousmane Kaboré that caught the goalkeeper off guard.
• 78th minute: The decisive moment arrived when FocuSport's substitute, Ali Zongo, pounced on a defensive mistake and fired home the winner.

Tactical Story

FocuSport FC's high press caused Sonabel problems all evening. The home side's midfield trio pressed aggressively, forcing turnovers in dangerous areas. Sonabel, meanwhile, were content to absorb pressure and counter through the pace of their wide players. The tactic worked twice to pull level, but ultimately their defensive resolve cracked under sustained pressure.

FocuSport's manager will be pleased with the attacking fluidity but concerned about the two goals conceded. Sonabel's coach may feel his side deserved a point, but they were punished for a late lapse in concentration.

Standout Players

• Issouf Ouattara (FocuSport FC): Opened the scoring and was a constant nuisance with his movement.
• Ousmane Kaboré (Sonabel): His sensational equalizer was the goal of the night.
• Ali Zongo (FocuSport FC): Came off the bench to score the winner, showing the depth of the squad.

Table and Season Impact

The win moves FocuSport FC up the Burkina Faso Division 1 table, strengthening their push for a top-half finish. Sonabel Ouagadougou remain in mid-table but will need to tighten up defensively if they are to climb. The result also adds another memorable chapter to this fixture, which has now produced 13 goals in the last four meetings.

FocuSport will look to build on this victory in their next league outing, while Sonabel must regroup quickly. In a league where every point matters, this late winner could prove crucial come the end of the season.
