Salitas FC claimed a hard-fought 1-0 away victory over FocuSport FC in the Burkina Faso Division 1 on 24 October 2026, with Abdoulaye Traoré scoring the only goal of the match in the second half. The result gave Salitas three valuable points on the road and left FocuSport FC ruing a series of missed opportunities in front of their home supporters.

Match overview

The first half was a cagey affair, with both teams prioritising defensive solidity over attacking adventure. FocuSport FC looked to build through midfield and dominate possession, but Salitas FC sat in a compact block and limited space between the lines. The home side's best early moments came from wide areas, where quick combinations produced crosses that the Salitas defence dealt with comfortably.

Salitas grew into the game as the half progressed. Their pressing forced a number of turnovers in midfield, and they began to threaten on the break. The decisive moment arrived in the 67th minute when a swift transition ended with Abdoulaye Traoré arriving late in the penalty area to convert a low cross. FocuSport pushed for an equaliser in the final 20 minutes, but Salitas goalkeeper Rasmané Kaboré produced a composed display to protect the lead.

Key moments

• 18th minute: FocuSport's first real sight of goal ended with a header drifting wide of the far post.
• 34th minute: Salitas won a dangerous free-kick, but the effort was deflected over the bar.
• 67th minute: Abdoulaye Traoré finished a flowing counter-attack to put Salitas FC 1-0 up.
• 79th minute: FocuSport forced a sharp save from Rasmané Kaboré after a goalmouth scramble.
• 90+3rd minute: A late FocuSport corner was cleared as Salitas held on for the win.

Tactical story

FocuSport FC set up with a possession-oriented shape, looking to use their midfield triangle to progress the ball. The approach gave them control in the first half, but it also left them vulnerable to quick counter-attacks. Salitas FC were happy to defend in a mid-block and strike through the channels, and that strategy paid off when Traoré timed his run perfectly for the opening goal.

After taking the lead, Salitas dropped deeper and invited pressure. FocuSport responded by pushing more bodies forward, but their final ball lacked precision. Salitas's back four stayed disciplined, with the centre-backs winning the majority of aerial duels and the full-backs closing down crosses efficiently. The away side's game management in the closing stages was a key reason they left with all three points.

Standout performers

Abdoulaye Traoré was the match-winner for Salitas FC, showing excellent movement and composure for the only goal. Rasmané Kaboré deserved credit for a series of important saves, while the Salitas midfield worked tirelessly to disrupt FocuSport's rhythm. For FocuSport, the central midfielder Ousmane Sawadogo was a bright spark, repeatedly trying to drive his team forward, but the home side lacked a cutting edge in the final third.

Table and season impact

The win strengthens Salitas FC's position in the Burkina Faso Division 1 standings and gives them momentum for the next round of fixtures. For FocuSport FC, the defeat is a frustrating one, especially given the spells of possession they enjoyed. They will need to improve their finishing and their ability to break down compact defences if they are to climb the table. Salitas, meanwhile, will take confidence from an away performance built on organisation, discipline, and a decisive moment of quality.
