Benin Ligue 1 result: Damissa and Association Sportive de la Vallée de l’Ouémé FC played out a tense 0-0 draw at the Stade Municipal de Damissa, with the hosts holding firm after being reduced to ten men late in the second half.

Damissa and AS Vallée de l’Ouémé produced a cautious, hard-fought Benin Ligue 1 encounter in which clear chances were scarce and defensive concentration was high. The visitors had more of the ball, especially after the interval, but Damissa’s back line and goalkeeper stood strong. A late sending-off added drama to the closing stages, yet neither side could find the goal that would have settled the contest.

Match overview

The first half was a midfield battle, with both teams reluctant to commit too many bodies forward. AS Vallée de l’Ouémé tried to build through the middle, while Damissa looked to hit them on the counter. The game changed slightly after the break when the visitors increased their tempo, but Damissa’s defensive shape held and the match remained goalless.

Tactical story

AS Vallée de l’Ouémé’s 4-3-3 gave them control of possession, but Damissa’s 5-3-2 made the central areas difficult to access. After the red card, Damissa dropped even deeper, forming a compact block around their penalty area and asking the visitors to break them down with crosses and long-range shots. To their credit, the ten men stayed disciplined, cleared their lines when necessary and defended set pieces with focus.

Standout performers

Moussa Sanni was central to Damissa’s clean sheet, making important saves in the second half and handling late pressure well. Kévin Dossou’s evening ended early, but his defensive work before the dismissal helped set the tone. For AS Vallée de l’Ouémé, Cédric Ahouandjinou was the most creative presence, while Ismaël Aïhounhin carried the main attacking threat.

What the point means

The draw gives Damissa a point built on resilience and defensive discipline, especially after going a man down. AS Vallée de l’Ouémé will feel they missed an opportunity to climb the Benin Ligue 1 standings, having enjoyed the better of the ball without finding a breakthrough. Both sides remain with work to do in attack, but both can take credit from a committed defensive performance.
