Association Sportive de la Vallée de l’Ouémé FC and Djeffa FC played out a 0-0 draw in the Benin Ligue 1 on October 25, 2026, in a match that was short on goals but long on commitment and tactical discipline. The home side pushed for a late winner in front of their supporters, while Djeffa FC defended with determination and carried a threat on the counter.

Match Overview

The first half was a scrappy, competitive affair. AS Vallée de l’Ouémé tried to impose themselves through quick passing in midfield and early crosses into the box, but Djeffa’s defense held its shape well. The visitors were content to absorb pressure and look for space behind the home side’s advanced full-backs. Clear chances were rare, with both teams guilty of rushing their final passes in promising positions.

After the break, the home side increased the intensity. Their midfield pushed higher, and the wingers began to find more room in wide areas. Djeffa responded by dropping deeper and defending in numbers, then breaking forward through their forwards whenever they won the ball back. The closing stages brought a series of corners and free-kicks for AS Vallée de l’Ouémé, but Djeffa’s goalkeeper and center-backs stood firm.

Key Moments

• First-half header: The home side’s best chance came from a corner, but the header was directed straight at the goalkeeper.
• Djeffa’s counter: A quick break in the second half ended with a shot from outside the box that sailed just over the bar.
• Late pressure: AS Vallée de l’Ouémé forced several late corners, but Djeffa defended them with calm and discipline.

Tactical Story

AS Vallée de l’Ouémé’s approach was built on territorial control. They looked to pin Djeffa back, win second balls in midfield, and deliver crosses into the penalty area. Djeffa, meanwhile, defended with a compact block and looked to exploit space on the break. The home side’s final ball was often too heavy, and Djeffa’s defenders were quick to close down shooting angles. It was a classic Benin Ligue 1 battle of patience versus resilience, with neither side able to find the decisive moment.

Standout Performers

Djeffa FC’s goalkeeper produced a composed display, dealing with crosses and making one important second-half save. Their center-back was commanding in the air and made several crucial clearances. For AS Vallée de l’Ouémé, the midfield anchor kept the team ticking and won plenty of second balls, while the left winger was the most consistent attacking threat, repeatedly beating his marker but failing to find a teammate with the final ball.

Season Impact

The point keeps both clubs moving in the early part of the Benin Ligue 1 campaign, though each will feel they could have taken more. For AS Vallée de l’Ouémé, the draw is a lesson in patience and finishing; for Djeffa FC, it is a reward for a disciplined away performance. With the league table still taking shape, clean sheets and hard-earned points away from home could prove valuable by the end of the season.
