Tienen 1-1 Roeselare Daisel: Honours Shared in Belgian First Amateur Division

Tienen and Roeselare Daisel played out a 1-1 draw in the Belgian First Amateur Division on Sunday evening, a result that left both sides with a sense of what might have been. At the final whistle, the hosts had enjoyed the better of the opening hour, while Roeselare Daisel finished strongly and earned a point with a well-taken equaliser.

The match kicked off at 21:00 local time and quickly settled into a tactical battle. Tienen, playing in front of their home support, looked to press high and force mistakes in the visitors’ half. Roeselare Daisel sat deeper and looked to spring forward on the counter-attack.

First Half: Tienen Take Control

Tienen broke the deadlock midway through the first half. A quick passing move down the right ended with a low cross into the penalty area, and the Tienen forward guided the ball past the goalkeeper with a first-time finish. The goal lifted the home side, and they nearly doubled their lead before the break when a header from a corner flashed just wide.

Roeselare Daisel struggled to keep possession for long spells, but their defensive shape remained disciplined. The visitors’ best moment of the first half came from a set piece, forcing a smart save from the Tienen goalkeeper.

Second Half: Roeselare Daisel Fight Back

After the interval, Roeselare Daisel changed their approach, pushing their wing-backs higher and committing more players to the attack. The pressure eventually told. On 72 minutes, a smart exchange on the edge of the box opened space, and the Roeselare forward curled a shot into the far corner to make it 1-1.

Tienen responded with renewed urgency. The home side introduced fresh legs and pushed for a winner, but Roeselare Daisel defended their box with courage, blocking several shots and clearing dangerous crosses. In stoppage time, Tienen had one final chance from a free-kick, but the effort cleared the crossbar.

Tactical Story and Standout Players

Tienen’s midfield controlled the tempo for long periods, while Roeselare Daisel’s resilience and counter-attacking threat kept the game balanced. The visitors’ goalkeeper made two important saves in the closing stages, and the Tienen centre-back was excellent in aerial duels.

• Tienen: Bright attacking spells, but lacked a killer second goal.
• Roeselare Daisel: Slow start, strong finish, deserved equaliser.
• Key moment: The 72nd-minute equaliser shifted momentum.

What the Draw Means

Both teams add a point to their Belgian First Amateur Division tally. Tienen remain difficult to beat at home, while Roeselare Daisel will take confidence from a battling away performance. The result leaves both sides looking to turn draws into wins as the season progresses.
