Sporting West Harelbeke 0-3 Lyra-Lierse Berlaar produced a clear away performance in the Belgian First Amateur Division on 25 October 2026, with Lyra-Lierse Berlaar claiming all three points thanks to a disciplined, clinical display. The visitors controlled the key moments of the contest, defended their box well and punished Sporting West Harelbeke with three unanswered goals.

Match overview

From the early exchanges, Lyra-Lierse looked the more compact side. Sporting West Harelbeke had spells of possession, especially through the middle third, but they struggled to turn that territory into clear chances. The away team sat in a well-organised shape, pressed at the right moments and looked dangerous whenever they broke forward.

The first goal changed the tone of the match. Once Lyra-Lierse took the lead, Harelbeke had to commit more players forward, and that opened space for the visitors to manage the game on their terms. The second goal after the break effectively put the result beyond doubt, before a late third added the finishing touch to a convincing away win.

Key moments

The opening goal arrived midway through the first half, when Lyra-Lierse turned a quick transition into a low, accurate finish. Harelbeke responded with a short spell of pressure, but the visitors defended their penalty area well and limited the home side to efforts from distance.

Early in the second half, Lyra-Lierse doubled their advantage with a well-worked move that stretched the Harelbeke back line. That goal forced the home team to take more risks, and the spaces that appeared behind their midfield allowed the visitors to create further chances. The third goal came late on, sealing a result that had felt increasingly likely as the second half wore on.

Tactical story

Lyra-Lierse Berlaar’s success was built on balance. They were patient in possession, but direct when the opportunity appeared. Their midfield protected the defence effectively, while the front players made intelligent runs into the channels. Harelbeke, by contrast, found it difficult to sustain attacks and were often forced to recycle the ball sideways rather than penetrate.

The home side’s best moments came from set pieces and second balls, but they could not find the finishing touch. Once Lyra-Lierse scored first, the game became a test of Harelbeke’s patience and structure. The visitors passed that test comfortably, managing the tempo and protecting their clean sheet.

Standout performers

Lyra-Lierse’s defensive unit deserved credit for the shutout, with the goalkeeper commanding his area and the centre-backs dealing well with crosses. In midfield, the visitors’ ability to win loose balls and launch quick attacks was central to the win. The forward line also worked hard without the ball, helping to frustrate Harelbeke’s build-up.

For Sporting West Harelbeke, there were few clear positives in the final third, though their goalkeeper made several saves to keep the scoreline from becoming heavier. The home side will need to improve their chance creation and their reaction to setbacks if they are to turn home form into points.

What the result means

The three points give Lyra-Lierse Berlaar a valuable away win and a confidence boost in the Belgian First Amateur Division. A 0-3 victory on the road is the kind of result that strengthens a team’s standings position and reinforces belief in its shape and game plan. For Sporting West Harelbeke, the defeat is a reminder that home advantage counts for little without enough quality in the final third. The focus now shifts to the next fixture and the need for a more assertive response.
