Roeselare Daisel suffered a narrow 0-1 defeat at home to Thes Sport in the Belgian First Amateur Division on October 1, 2026. A single second-half goal decided a match in which Roeselare created chances but failed to convert their pressure into an equaliser.

Match overview

The first half was a cautious affair, with both teams prioritising defensive structure. Roeselare Daisel tried to build patiently from the back, while Thes Sport pressed selectively and looked to counter through the channels. Clear-cut opportunities were rare, though Roeselare went closest with a header that clipped the top of the crossbar.

The decisive moment came in the 63rd minute. Thes Sport won possession in midfield, moved the ball quickly to the right, and delivered a cross that Niels Van Hecke met with a controlled finish at the near post. Roeselare responded with a series of attacks, but Thes Sport defended their lead with discipline and composure.

Key moments

• 27’ – Roeselare chance: A header from a corner struck the crossbar.
• 48’ – Thes Sport warning: A quick counter ended with a shot that went wide of the far post.
• 63’ – Thes Sport 1-0: Niels Van Hecke scored with a first-time finish from a right-wing cross.
• 76’ – Roeselare pressure: A goal-bound effort was blocked on the line by a defender.
• 89’ – Late save: Thes Sport’s goalkeeper claimed a dangerous cross to relieve the pressure.

Tactical story

Roeselare Daisel had more possession but struggled to break down a well-organised Thes Sport defence. The visitors sat in a compact 4-1-4-1, denying space between the lines and forcing Roeselare into wide crosses. When Thes Sport won the ball, they attacked vertically and with purpose, and that approach produced the only goal of the game. Roeselare’s late surge showed character, but they lacked the final touch in front of goal.

Standout players

Van Hecke was the match-winner for Thes Sport, taking his goal with confidence. Thes Sport’s goalkeeper was also important, making a crucial save late on. For Roeselare, the centre-backs were solid in possession and defended well against counters, while the wingers delivered several dangerous balls that went unconverted.

What it means in the table

Thes Sport take home three valuable points and climb in the Belgian First Amateur Division standings, while Roeselare Daisel are left to rue a missed opportunity on home soil. The defeat highlights the fine margins in the division: one moment of quality was enough to separate the sides, and Roeselare must now respond in their next fixture.
