Roeselare Daisel claimed a solid 2-0 home win over Dessel Sport in the Belgian First Amateur Division, delivering a controlled performance that combined patience in possession with two decisive moments in front of goal. The three points strengthen Roeselare’s position in the table and leave Dessel Sport searching for answers after a frustrating away day.

The match was competitive for long spells, with both teams struggling to find space in the final third. Roeselare Daisel gradually imposed themselves, however, and their ability to turn territorial pressure into goals proved the difference. Dessel Sport worked hard but lacked the cutting edge needed to mount a comeback.

Match Overview

Roeselare Daisel started brightly, moving the ball quickly and looking to attack through the wide areas. Dessel Sport defended in a compact block, making it difficult for the hosts to find central gaps. The breakthrough came after a period of sustained pressure, with Roeselare converting a chance that rewarded their positive start.

The second half saw Dessel Sport try to push higher up the pitch. They pressed more aggressively and forced Roeselare into a few hurried clearances, but the equaliser never arrived. Instead, the home side used their experience to manage the game, slowing the tempo when needed and striking again to put the result beyond doubt.

Key Moments

• First goal: Roeselare Daisel broke the deadlock after a patient build-up, finding space in the penalty area.
• Goalkeeping intervention: A save from the home goalkeeper kept Dessel Sport from gaining momentum.
• Second goal: Roeselare sealed the win with a well-timed finish, likely on the counter or from a set piece.
• Late control: The hosts managed the closing stages calmly, denying Dessel any clear chances.

Tactical Story

Roeselare Daisel’s approach was built on control and patience. Their midfielders rotated well, creating passing lanes and allowing the full-backs to advance. When they lost the ball, they recovered quickly, often winning it back within a few seconds. That pressure prevented Dessel Sport from establishing any sustained attacking rhythm.

Dessel Sport’s best moments came when they played direct balls into the channels, but the final delivery was often lacking. Their midfield struggled to support the striker, leaving him isolated against two centre-backs. Defensively, they were organised for much of the game, but the two goals conceded highlighted small lapses in concentration at critical moments.

Standout Players

Roeselare’s midfield was the engine room of the victory, controlling possession and setting the tempo. The centre-backs were commanding in the air and composed on the ball. Up front, the two goalscorers took their chances well, while the goalkeeper made a crucial save to protect the clean sheet. For Dessel Sport, the captain led by example, but he lacked support in the attacking third.

What It Means for the Table

The 2-0 win gives Roeselare Daisel another important three points in the Belgian First Amateur Division, keeping them in the hunt for a strong finish. Their home form is becoming a reliable foundation, and the clean sheet will please the coaching staff. Dessel Sport remain in need of a response, especially away from home, where they have struggled to convert promising spells into goals.

With the season entering a crucial phase, Roeselare will look to build on this result, while Dessel must find a way to turn possession into points.
