Zulte-Waregem Brush Aside RFC Seraing 3-0 in Belgian Cup

Zulte-Waregem secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over RFC Seraing in the Belgian Cup on 18 October 2026, with a controlled and clinical performance at home. Three goals without reply reflected Zulte-Waregem's dominance, as they combined patient build-up with sharp finishing to book their place in the next round.

Match overview

Zulte-Waregem started brightly and quickly established a rhythm, moving the ball with purpose and stretching RFC Seraing's defensive shape. The hosts took the lead early, which allowed them to play with confidence and dictate the tempo. Seraing tried to respond, but they struggled to maintain possession under pressure.

A second goal before half-time gave Zulte-Waregem a commanding advantage. The second half was more controlled than chaotic, with the hosts managing the game well before adding a third goal late on to complete a convincing scoreline.

Key moments

• Early breakthrough: Zulte-Waregem opened the scoring with a composed finish, settling any early nerves.
• Second before the break: The hosts doubled their lead and took a firm grip on the tie.
• Late third goal: A final goal in the closing stages put the result beyond doubt and capped a strong team performance.

Tactical story

Zulte-Waregem's approach was balanced and effective. They used width to create space, rotated the ball quickly in midfield, and attacked the penalty area with numbers when the opportunity arose. RFC Seraing defended deep at times, but the constant movement of Zulte-Waregem's forward players made them difficult to contain.

The key to the hosts' success was their control of transitions. Whenever Seraing won the ball, Zulte-Waregem pressed quickly to win it back or slowed the counter with smart tactical fouls. That prevented the visitors from building momentum and allowed the hosts to sustain pressure.

Standout performers and cup impact

Zulte-Waregem's attacking players will be pleased with their contributions, but the clean sheet was just as valuable. The defensive unit stayed focused, dealt with Seraing's limited chances, and ensured there was no route back into the game for the visitors. The midfield also played a key role, linking defence and attack smoothly.

For RFC Seraing, this was a tough cup exit, but the scoreline reflects the gap in efficiency on the night. Zulte-Waregem, meanwhile, move forward with confidence. A 3-0 home win in the Belgian Cup is a strong statement, and their blend of control and cutting edge will make them a dangerous opponent in the next round.
