Tactical story

Sumgayit’s dominance came from their pressing structure. Kur-Araz struggled to play out from the back, and every misplaced pass seemed to turn into a shooting opportunity. Sumgayit created overloads on both flanks, attacked the space behind the full-backs, and kept their forward line moving throughout. Once the first few goals went in, the game became a matter of damage limitation for the hosts, but Sumgayit’s focus never dropped.

Standout performers

Eyyubov’s hat-trick led the scoring, while Məmmədli, Quliyev, Hüseynov and Əliyev all contributed multiple goals. The spread of scorers highlighted Sumgayit’s attacking depth and the quality of their service from wide areas. For Kur-Araz FC, the night offered a difficult lesson in the demands of cup football against a higher-level opponent.

What it means

The 11-0 win sends Sumgayit FK into the next round with a statement performance and a significant confidence boost. Kur-Araz FC exit the Azerbaijan Cup after a heavy defeat, but the result will be remembered more for Sumgayit’s clinical finishing and relentless attacking play than for the final margin alone.
