Shahdagh Qusar produced one of the most emphatic scorelines of the Azerbaijan Cup season, dismantling FK MOIK Baku 9-1 on 28 October 2026. The visitors were ruthless from the opening exchanges and turned a promising cup tie into a comprehensive statement of intent, scoring at regular intervals and never allowing the home side to settle.

Match overview

FK MOIK Baku entered the fixture with home advantage and the hope of making the cup tie uncomfortable for their opponents. Instead, Shahdagh Qusar imposed themselves early, moved the ball quickly through midfield and repeatedly exposed gaps in the MOIK defensive shape. By the time the first-half patterns had settled, the away side had already established control on the scoreboard and in possession.

The second half only reinforced the difference between the teams. Shahdagh Qusar maintained their intensity rather than protecting the lead, adding further goals as space opened up. MOIK Baku, to their credit, kept pushing for a consolation and were rewarded with a goal, but it did little to change the mood of a one-sided cup encounter.

Key moments

• Shahdagh Qusar opened the scoring early, setting the tone for a high-tempo attacking performance.
• The visitors doubled their advantage before MOIK Baku could establish any sustained possession in the final third.
• A dominant spell either side of half-time effectively removed any doubt about the result.
• MOIK Baku scored their consolation goal, briefly giving the home support something to cheer.
• Shahdagh Qusar restored their cushion almost immediately and finished the tie with a flurry of late goals.

Tactical story

The match was defined by Shahdagh Qusar’s pressing and quick transitions. They won the ball back high, attacked the space behind the MOIK back line and looked dangerous whenever they moved the ball into wide areas. MOIK Baku struggled to close down crosses and were stretched repeatedly as they tried to push forward in search of a route back into the game.

Once Shahdagh Qusar were ahead, their confidence grew. Their midfield controlled the rhythm, their forwards made runs into the channels and the full-backs joined attacks with little hesitation. MOIK Baku’s consolation goal came from a period of pressure, but it also left them more exposed at the back, which Shahdagh Qusar punished clinically.

Standout performers

Shahdagh Qusar’s attacking unit deserved much of the credit. The movement between the forwards and midfield created constant problems for MOIK Baku, while the visitors’ finishing in the final third was sharp and decisive. Their goalkeeper and defence also handled the home side’s occasional counterattacks well enough to keep the game under control.

For MOIK Baku, the result was a painful one, but their persistence until the end was notable. The consolation goal at least ensured the home side did not finish the night without a reward, even as Shahdagh Qusar ran away with the tie.

What the result means

The 9-1 victory sends Shahdagh Qusar through with a major confidence boost and a warning to future opponents in the Azerbaijan Cup. For FK MOIK Baku, the focus now shifts to regrouping after a heavy cup defeat. The scoreline will be remembered as one of the most lopsided results of the round, and it underlines the gap in cutting edge that separated the two sides on the night.
