Wiener Viktoria 3-0 SV Wienerberger: Dominant derby display seals three points

Wiener Viktoria produced a commanding performance in the Austrian 3.Liga on Saturday, September 19, 2026, defeating city rivals SV Wienerberger 3-0. The victory was built on a disciplined defensive display, intelligent pressing and two expertly taken goals from Lukas Wagner, who stole the headlines in a one-sided Vienna derby.

From the first whistle, Wiener Viktoria looked the more composed and confident side. They controlled possession, won the midfield battle and never allowed SV Wienerberger to settle into any rhythm. By the time the third goal went in, the result was beyond doubt.

Match overview

Wiener Viktoria set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with the front three pressing aggressively to stop Wienerberger playing out from the back. The approach worked perfectly. The hosts forced turnovers high up the pitch and created a string of chances, while their back four remained compact and alert throughout.

SV Wienerberger tried to sit deep and counter, but their isolated forwards struggled to keep possession. Too often, clearances came straight back at them, and Wiener Viktoria’s midfielders were quick to recycle the ball and launch fresh attacks.

Key moments

• 18th minute – 1-0 Wiener Viktoria: Michael Steiner rose highest to head home a corner from the right.
• 42nd minute – 2-0 Wiener Viktoria: Lukas Wagner finished off a swift counter-attack, cutting inside before striking low.
• 67th minute – 3-0 Wiener Viktoria: Wagner grabbed his second with a first-time finish after a clever pull-back from the byline.

Tactical story

The game was decided by Wiener Viktoria’s aggressive pressing and their ability to dominate the half-spaces. Their midfield trio suffocated Wienerberger’s deep-lying playmakers, and the full-backs pushed high to create constant wide overloads. The early goal settled any nerves and forced the visitors to come out of their shell, which only created more space for the hosts to exploit.

Wienerberger’s 4-4-2 shape was intended to keep things tight, but they struggled to transition from defence to attack. Their two strikers were starved of service, and when they did get the ball, they were surrounded by Wiener Viktoria defenders within seconds.

Standout players

Lukas Wagner was the obvious match-winner, scoring twice and causing problems with his direct running. Michael Steiner opened the scoring with a powerful header and was a threat from set pieces all evening. In midfield, the captain controlled the tempo and ensured Wiener Viktoria never lost their shape.

Goalkeeper Florian Berger recorded a well-deserved clean sheet, making two important saves in the first half when the game was still competitive. For SV Wienerberger, it was a night to forget, though their goalkeeper prevented the scoreline from becoming even more emphatic.

Table impact

The three points lift Wiener Viktoria up the Austrian 3.Liga standings and give them valuable momentum in what is always a demanding season. For SV Wienerberger, the defeat leaves them needing to regroup quickly, especially with local pride at stake. In a Vienna derby, a 3-0 scoreline carries extra weight, and Wiener Viktoria will savour this result for some time.
